To all the people who say it cant be Alex or Odin cause of story. Here is one way you can have Alex + Odin AND skirt around all plot holes (well i think most and every major one). i will spoiler them both to skip if you don't care. For each add SE's touch to dialog in game and change the inconsistencies i made by mistake. (the puppets or using a wrong name but it still happened to some one else. i make those mistakes.)

    Odin:
    Spoiler: show

    Quest: Darkness Bound (unrepeatable)
The empire has gotten word of a new dark rider being brought to this plane of existence. Exterminate it at once. The empress commands…..

Obtaining the BC: 2 NM guards in an instanced area that is in hazulm. Imps, one will use silence and one will use amnesia. Both ws in unison. Both must be killed alla yin/yang style (same time)

    BC Dialog:
The Dark Rider: Born again from hate. Again I walk this world. This time with hate anew. Ah, you have come. I knew she would send her most trusted mercenary. It is time to test this body’s full strength.

    Win:
Luzaf: It seems you are the best and the best to defend the empire. Though my power is weak I can offer you myself, my soul, to carry out the will of the empire. [Offers items or pact]
[Items] Luzaf: I see. So I shall forge my soul into [item] and be forever with you. Helping defend the empire from demons like Odin.
[Pact] Luzaf: I see you have the power to draw beings from another plain. While I cannot come to this plain fully, with your help part of my soul can. Though my soul will be fractured I shall do what I can. You shall from this day forth be able to call the power of the dark rider to your side.
[This quest will work CoP ring style. You can exchange with a wait but you now will not have to lose the item when you wish to change. You must just wait the amount of days]

    Alexander:
    Spoiler: show

Quest: Walking to the light (unrepeatable)
Ovjang has not been acting properly ever since the mishap in Nyzul. Find the pieces to repair him in Alzadaal Undersea Ruins. The empress commands…..
Obtaining the BC: Fight a gear + chariot combo. Gear will act like normal gear; Chariot will act like normal chariot. If chariot is killed first gear will turn into a triple gear. If gear is killed first chariot will turn into a salvage boss chariot {random}.

    BC dialog:
Ovjang: finally the items to repair me. I keep seizing up inside randomly and it is quite getting on my nerves. Why these pieces look to have been taken parts from that accursed machine that I was used to fuel. {Spark} What’s this power I feel? {Spark} {Spark} I LIVE {spark} I know this power. But it can’t be!!!!! {Spark} I AM FREE! THE TIME OF RAGNAROCK HAS COME! I HAVE BUT A FRACTION OF MY TRUE POWER BUT IT WILL BE ENOUGH TO DISTROY YOU!

    Win:
    (In BC)
It looks like Alexander is drawing more power. You lack the ability to fight much more. You sense your coming doom...
    Ovjang: STOP! STOP THIS NOW.
Alexander: What?!?! What is this will, what is this power?
Ovjang: I shall not let you harm my friends. I will do anything to stop you.
    White flash…..
    (Now in the palace)
Ovjang: This power I feel it inside me still….. The curse of Alexander will, I think I will never be able to get it out of me. As long as I have this body He will keep coming. We have to dismantle me. There is no other way.
Aphmau: You have no idea how much a cherish you or how much I will miss you.
Ovjang: There is no other way. But my spirit shall always carry on beside you. Please do this for me.
    (Fade out/in)
Aphmau: it is done. We have dismantled Ovjang. We will now split the pieces up so Alexander can never use him as an outlet for his power. I wish for you may ever faithful mercenary to carry a part of him. It is what he would have wanted. [Offers items or pact]
[Item] Aphmau: So it is [item] that you want? Use it well and please keep it safe.
    [Pact] (Flash)
Ovjang: but I am in pieces I still exist as this transponder. I sense a great power within you. The power to draw from other plains. While I am not there completely yet the power of Alexander still resides in me. Though he can never use me because I am incomplete I can use the bit of power he left. Have this body created and I shall posses it and forever fight by your side.
[This quest will work CoP ring style. You can exchange with a wait but you now will not have to lose the item when you wish to change. You must just wait the amount of days]
    Spoiler: show
Except Luzaf never had an semblence of control of any of Odin's power, let alone the ability to choose when and where he took his form. Luzaf's power was leeched from Odin, and when the time came Odin himself took control using Luzaf as nothing more then a bridge.

And Ovjang is far from being a worthy vessel for Alexander, if he was do you really think they would have went through all the trouble they did to build the body he actually used? Ovjang couldn't even beat a damn Cardian, there's no way in hell Alexander would willingly choose to occupy that form.

Both of those had two very different conditions- Luzaf was returned to life and got power with the condition that he would become the Dark Rider, Raogrimm got an army of demons and was transformed on the condition that he free Odin from the Dark Protocrystal. We can hardly conclude anything from this. Apart from Odin's and Alexander's perpetual fued, they don't really seem any more stubborn or willfill than the other 6 Celestial Avatars. (Seriously, they were total pricks during the Waking the Beast quest.)

Summoning is just calling upon a reflection of the true avatar's power, this could easily be written in that although they are not fond of people, that either Odin or Alexander are so impressed with your strength in battle that they are willing to aid you since it doesn't really take much of anything away from them. This wouldn't even require retconing, just fleshing out parts of the story about which we know little to nothing.
From my understanding, Odin was free long before Raogrimm showed up, but much like he did with Luzaf, Raogrimm's overwhelming negative emotions, the rage he felt, drew Odin to him and was thus granted power. The Shadow Lord was to do to the midlands what Luzaf and the Dark Rider were doing with ToAU, sow chaos and spread fear and cause war and death and violence. Odin is not a nice guy. He's about the closest thing we've come to the actual "Devil" in this game. Even Promethia wasn't as evil-for-the-sake-of-evil as Odin is. Those he allies with, those he uses to achieve his goals, are chosen because their hearts are so filled with hate and rage that they draw Odin to them. And he feeds on that, and twists that person into his servant and sends them out into the world to do bad things. This wouldn't just be a Retcon to suddenly let the *heros* of the world summon him, it would be a donkey punch to the continuity and storyline they've already laid out. On top of the fact they'd have to find a reason for you to fight him in Einhajar...

And for as much as Odin is the consuming darkness, Alexander is the burning light. His only concern is to cleanse the world of darkness, and Odin is his number one target. But once he's out of the way, Alex will surely make his way down the list until all is light...and that wouldn't leave much left for us.

We summon the Celestial Avatars because Carbuncle believes that us showing them, little by little, the good things we're doing in the world will make them not want to wipe us out when they inevitably wake up. When they do wake up, they're going to return the world to Paradise, and Carby thinks if we can show them we "ain't that bad" they'll decide to not destroy all life on Vana D'iel. Odin, he's already awake, and on top of that he's causing these bad things we have to run around and fight against. He doesn't care about Paradise, he just wants to spread his evil and darken the world. Alexander, well he woke up too, and again, not concerned about Paradise, he just wants to burn everything until there is no darkness left in the world. That's how those two work and that's how they balance out.

In my little plot arc both Luzaf and Ovjang are used as a bridge. because of this they are unintentionally granted a little power of the avatars but little enough for Alex and Odin to not care or see them as a new way to spread their beliefs. This you never make a pact with them but are granted fragments of their power like all other avatars.

I mean SE has thrown worse curve balls then this....

I'm sorry, but the plots for both of those quests are absolutely cliche and terrible.

All of that is conjecture and remains to be proven or disproven. The only thing we are sure of is that Odin is free of his protocrystal.
Just because Alexander was channeled through Alzadaal doesn't mean he HAS to be to exist in our world; The structure has always been chiefly a means to control the entirety of his power (instead of an unnoticeable fraction), meaning just like Karaha-Buruha's fusion with Fenrir, IT IS NOT A NORMAL SUMMONING. Instead of doing it by sheer force of will (drawing the power through a mortal body), it was done through a construct. Ultimately, the result was the same, the entity disappeared with the mortal it had joined with after using a large amount of its power. If the end result was the same, then the means could have easily been interchangeable.

In any case, if either Alexander or Odin were summoned normally (small fraction of power), there is absolutely nothing to suggest they would act be different from any other avatar. This, at least, is true, so have fun pulling more crap out of your ass, just don't expect anyone to shake hands with you.

would also like to point out that ToAU conclusion portraited both avatars quite differently.
while one was simply defeated like the usual "bad guy", the other even shared a moment of redemption in saving a life, with following romance like - people have heart and make sacrifices, I'm surprise by humans - so, to me, this would be a perfect starting point for making a pact.

So this is the beastman barrier I've heard so much about?
Hmph. Step aside and watch a professional at work.

Whoah! Get a load of this place!

Why did the beastmen bring that chunk of magicite here?

The poor bastard who found it woulda been pretty messed up, I'd say...

I s'pose you wouldn't know too much about that particular chunk of magicite.

The Emptiness sealed within made it unique.

You've heard about the magicite known as the Star of Tavnazia, right? And I bet you know that a piece of it was stolen and sold to Bastok before the war, too, right?

Well, an allied expedition came here to the Northlands thirty years ago bearing that chunk of magicite. Its members were poisoned by the voice of darkness sealed within the stone.

    “Give in to thy desires.”
    “Return to thy true self...”

That voice beckons to the darkness within us, over and over...

That's why the members of the expedition went a little loopy. You can't really blame them, though.

I mean, you would, too, if the Twilight God was whispering in your ear!

    The voice of Promathia...?

    What the...!?
    You eavesdropping again!?

You must tell me more of this tale.

    I am Louverance N Mistalle.
Francmage M Mistalle, Royal Knight and member of the allied expedition, was my grandfather.

Oh, so that's which one you are.
In that case, I know all about you, too.

    So, you've finally come back.
Did you manage to avenge your grandfather's death?

How did you know about that!?
    Could it be that you're...?

    You got it, buddy.
It's your unlucky day. I'm Prishe, and this here's (Player Name).

    You two...

Hehehe. I bet you've heard that nobody knows what to make of us, huh?

But, as that doesn't bother me one bit, you shouldn't let it bother you either.
What I want to hear is the lowdown on the big boss behind the Kindred of the Northlands.

The Mithra seem to think that it's Promathia, but I know better than that.

So, who the hell is it?
He's called the Divinity of Darkness by the beastmen, apparently.

I returned here to investigate that very fact...

The legends of the northern islands tell that the Divinity of Darkness slumbers in this land.

At some time in the past, the Shadow Lord followed the voice of this sleeping deity to its source.

His actions led by the powerful stone in the possession of the Shadow Lord, the Divinity of Darkness created an army of demons to enter the service of his visitor.

I think I'm starting to get it now.
The being who the beastmen call Promathia is actually...

    Tell me!
    I must know the truth!

    Prishe!

    Wait!
Be on your guard! There is something strange afoot!

Back to the abyss, foul beast!

    (Player Name)!
    I knew you were tough!

That guy definitely has an eye for adventurers.
    Talk about dumb luck!

What happened to the rrresting place of the sleeping god...?

You know of the divinity said to slumber here?

There should be an enormous crystal of darkness here.

    It can't be...
The beastman deity you speak of...!

    !!!

    Ooh!

    Is that...!?

    Stay back!
The voice of darkness will have you!

I will never forget that stone!
It is the magicite that drove the allied expedition members to madness!

That stone is responsible for my grandfather's fate?

    No!

    You've come back...

Welcome home, my little lost magicite...

    Prishe!?

I must follow my friend... I must learn the truth...

(Player Name), I shall see you back in Bastok.
May the light of Altana guide you on your journey.

The timeline suggested here is that Raogrimm took the magicite to the Darkness Protocrystal, Odin gave him an army, then Odin was freed later and the magicite was left there.

Odin is not evil for the sake of evil, he has an agenda- to oppose Alexander, we know nearly nothing about him beyond that agenda.

    Spoiler: show
As Tomino pointed out, Odin did save Aphmau at the end of ToAU, so he is not nearly as evil as you make him out to be.

Odin did not empower Lufaz to sew chaos, he empowered him so that he would have an appropriate vessel to fight Alexander- the chaos sewing was just the bait to get Lufaz to take the deal. Odin didn't empower Raogrimm to sew chaos, he empowered him to find someone to shatter the Dark Protocrystal to free him to fight Alexander- the chaos sewing was just the bait to get Raogrimm to take the deal.

But the point is, all of this stuff about Alexander and Odin we are all just spinning conjecture based off of what we have read in the game. They can write any story that they want about Alexander and Odin and they have a lot of room to do it, because what we know about them combined couldn't fill a thimble.

Well, he is formless and invisible but flying around in Nyzul and watching events during the ToAU cutscenes. Kind of waiting for the right moment to take over i guess.

Again, we're not exactly sure who that was...
Considering it wasn't restricted to Alzadaal, it could have been anybody.

I dont think Odin roamning in Bhaflau is a result of the shattered crystal. The protocrystals basically serve as a passage way to the 8 elemental realms, and if one is shattered it means that door is closed.
What brought Odin on vanadiel is the ripped anomaly of the testing grounds in arrapago, as it became a 2 way door (while a proto crystal looks 1 way, since no Prime can walk out of it at will) with the Dark realm.

maybe Raogrimm met Odin via protocrystal, before it shattered. but it could also be that Odin pays visit to angry dying souls to propose "pacts" much like devils in fiction.

Odin was awoken by the Lay of Immortals which was sung at his protocrystal, not by the rift in Hazhalm. My guess is that the rift in Hazhalm allowed the awoken avatar to more easily access this realm. It's likely the same with Alexander, the astral do-hickeys that the empire has been tinkering with (which was also the research from which automatons originated) may have created a rift to the astral plane as well. A good indicator of this is the fact that Hazhalm has a constant double dark weather and Nyzul has a constant light weather. There is obviously some kind of astral energy flowing into our realm from those 2 points, similar to protocrystals. Moreso in Hazhalm, that rift seems bigger as Nyzul only has single light weather.

As far as whether Odin/Alexander have any reason to grant us a fraction of their power, they absolutely do if you think about it.

We know Odin is awake. Yet he still needed Luzaf to influence this world. This is a clue as to what happens when an avatar is awakened: They are still confined to their astral plane. An awakened avatar cannot simply hop into our realm and say "hi!" They need a medium or vessel. Why else would Odin even involve Luzaf at all? This also suggests that Alexander may well be awoken as well.

In fact, what I've begun to suspect is that an awakened avatar is no different from a slumbering one except that rather than the vessel/medium wielding the avatar's power while the avatar sleeps, it's the avatar wielding their power through the vessel/medium. This even further indicates that Alexander is also awake, because both avatars exhibit a willpower of their own within our realm. They are not slumbering, they are fully aware of their presence in our realm.

In this case, the Summoner does have something to offer Odin and Alexander: a vessel to act on the physical realm. All we'd need to do is convince them that we are capable of furthering their goal. This could be done with a quest that makes you pick a side between the two and only be able to summon one of the two for example. This would also explain SE's comment regarding "how to control them" because these avatars wouldn't be slumbering and simply obeying our every command. They would be awake and not only controlling themselves but probably have a strong influence over us as well!

I think it's absolutely possible that Odin/Alexander will be summonable.

Alexander was always one of my favourites, I really hope I can summon him.
It's kind of funny how this thread no longer has anything to do with the Magus Sisters anymore.

Too bad it's already known storywise it has 100x more to do with Puppetmasters than it does Summoners.

Yea, too bad that's a load of shit as I've already outlined....twice. -_-

    Wanna know why? Hint:
    Spoiler: show
    Normal Automatons aren't actually alive.

    Surprising, I know.

That's the same self-serving, ass-backwards, reality-ignoring logic that had Dragoons thinking they'd get Bahamut. Just because he was run through a big machine doesn't mean PUPs are getting Alexander, that's like saying only DRKs are getting Odin, cuz he's got a 2H sword and has horns on his helmet or that he'll be COR's, cuz he was run through Luzaf.

    In fact,
    Spoiler: show
the full power and personality of Alexander didn't manifest until it bonded with Razfad. There were using a large portion of it, to be sure, but once Alexander had realized what was going on, he saw his opportunity and used it to full effect. Once he had, Razfad said something to the effect of "I can hear that voice in my head!" Meaning, just like with Karaha-Baruha, the true summoning didn't occur until Alexander had attached itself to a host, meaning it was more like normal summoning than the dreck you're spouting. Oh, and before you start trying to poke holes in my earlier argument, 'more like' does not equal 'is'.
