    Maybe not, since those spells lower the stat of the element. Not sure if fire elementals have alot of STR, but if they did then Drown wouldn't be able to land in that case but it easily does. Same for Ifrit too etc.

    It's probably the absorb spells. INT vs whatever stat you're trying to take.
    Your INT/MND (depending on spell) vs w/e stat the mob has the highest of maybe?
