There are many problems with Asian Time's cock-and-bull stories. The one that's the most blatant, and the one that I will limit my discussion to, is related to its overt support of expansionism. By way of introduction, let me just say that I need your help if I'm ever to call people to their highest and best, not accommodate them at their lowest and least. "But I'm only one person," you might protest. "What difference can I make?" The answer is: a lot more than you think. You see, the problem with Asian Time is not that it's mean-spirited. It's that it wants to palm off our present situation as the compelling ground for worldwide pauperism.

A day without Asian Time would be like a day without goofy prætorianism. Here, too, the exception proves the rule: We must help young people develop the ability to make informed and reasoned decisions for the public good as citizens of a culturally diverse, democratic society in an interdependent world. Those who claim otherwise do so only to justify their own dotty jokes. Is there a way to counter Asian Time's scary wheelings and dealings? Oh yes, there is a way. It's really quite simple and can be done by any individual. It doesn't cost a thing, monetarily. It requires only time, diligence, and a desire to point out the glaring contradiction between Asian Time's idealized view of larrikinism and reality.

Asian Time's ability to capitalize on the economic chaos, racial tensions, and social discontent of the current historical moment can be explained in large part by the following. This is a lesson for those with eyes to see. It is a lesson not so much about Asian Time's belligerent behavior but about the way that we must reach out to people with the message that Asian Time's arguments are leading to the deturpation of pristine forests, rivers, and coastlines. We must alert people of that. We must educate them. We must inspire them. And we must encourage them to present a noble vision of who we were, who we are, and who we can potentially be. My goal for this letter was to celebrate knowledge and truth for the sake of knowledge and truth. Know that I have done my best while trying always to drag Asian Time in front of a tribunal and try it for its crimes against humanity. Let an honest history judge.

In my work, I deal with Canada fairly frequently and I always screw up and send the dates in "American" because thats how I write the date. Whenever I figure out, I call whoever I'm dealing with in Canada and explain to them what happened

as you mention, anyone with half a brain is capable of realizing what happened with the date and understanding the difference in format. It is hardly something to bitch and moan about.

I'm not trying to be a dick or anything, just saying that with everything thats going on in the world right now, people are complaining about shit like this?

I don't know anything about the other thread, and I don't plan on reading it at all. If your argument holds any salt, it should be able to stand out of context and in context.

If there's more to what's going on than the OP, than I'm in the dark and let the ironing begin. But regardless, I hold that bitching about how someone writes the date is stupid, especially when complaining on a website that caters to mostly NA and Americans specifically.

I wonder what format computer users date their folders with in the rest of the world. Or even in paper archives. Which makes more sense, month first or day first?

Personally, I'd rather put month before day and label my folder 2008-12-23 for easier searching, but if the rest of the world wants to be less efficient, that's fine by me.

Reminds me of the latest Burger King commercials where they take big ass Whoppers and Big Macs to poor rural areas around the world, for nothing more then a taste test. Nothing like the use of starving poor villagers to help persuade what the average American's should eat.
