Shitty economy, anyone actually making gil?

I use to do utsusemi scroll runs back in the day but I heard they added "additional requirements" to stop people from farming them, what did they end up doing other then level 10 required?

Also is anyone making a decent buck at the moment? Ever since the market crashed a lot of synth recipes have been made into complete money wasters or you need an insane HQ rate to profit.

Just wanted to know if scroll runs are still doable and if not what some fellow people are doing to make bank to get some gil as I am out of ideas.

(That and I need to do the scrolls to get ninja for my new toon wanted to know what I needed)

Hell, even in this economy I make money off of crafting. Just takes some actual work on looking at Http://www.ffxiah.com for about 15min.
Even in gardening I make money. It's all in how you look at it.

I'm not telling anyone how I make money in-game, if I do everyone will jump on it and I won't be able to make as much.

[B]Here are my 2 cents... One of the few things I can say is that being a 75 THF as your main job you tend to look up ways to make money and put that gilfinder (when completely bored) and broken Treasure Hunter to good use... So I was completely late to this party and didn't even get to live it to its full potential but before I was farming Orc Piercers (8-9k), Shell Busters (5-6k), and Yagudo Freezers (3-4k) from the Decent Challenge demons in Caslte Zhavl Baileys (sp?) and selling them to npcs... Believe it or not with about 30+ free slots and a whole real game day dedicated to farming you could make anywhere from 120-400k in one day... Now the 400k takes INSANE patience that I just don't have and now unfortunately I can never put to the test...

Personally I made about 200k-ish that I split with my cousin (who came on brd for speed kills)... Again I have to say though thanks to that specific nerf I guess I can never make decent money... Its almost as if Square Enix didn't want demons dying in that god forsaken castle... My question is WHY!? No one was there when I went except for the select few coffer hunting and even still out of all the demons I killed none of them dropped coffer keys (unless they don't drop it at all?)...

Anyway to make a long story short I don't want to give away my only bread and butter for making gil but I will say its done via a quest. Even with that quest now it seems other people caught on and its slowing down my potential 100-150k a day (sucks compared to the castle) but still not bad if I did it only 2-3 days out of the week...

So I'm wondering if any of the new stuff is even worth doing (Goblin Mazes and stuff) for gil because if not than SE needs to do one of two things immediately!

    1) - Either make beastman seals and kindred seals drop rate increase by over 50% (serious-fucking-ly)... Or

    2) - Have their programmers remove the player based economy (a bit drastic) OR implement a system where npc's buy stuff off the Auction House or something...

Seriously they need to do something or linkshells and players across all servers should unite and force ALL AH prices down to the point where we don't need insane amount of gil to buy stuff anymore...

I think the biggest problem with the economy is the classes of players. There's really no in between, the majority of players are scrambling around making enough gil to get food and basic gear and then there's a bunch of players who are pretty much set. Every way of making gil is relative to being able to keep it secret from other players or having a large amount of gil to invest in playing the market (or just being so ridiculously set you never have to worry again.) SE really has a poor system when it comes to gil, it boils down to spending a huge amount time and/or how many friends you can static with. Generally this just ties into their belief that even the smallest rewards should be tied to tedious, inane tasks.

The long and short of it if you want to make large amounts gil be ready to invest significant time into the game and get a group of people that will be there for you whenever needed.

It's more or less last time I played was right after the 06 market crash after christmas and I am use to making 50-100k for a stack of ram leather which now gets me 11k.......

Also I think I am at a disadvantage as all these ENM and other abbv. fights you can solo is a mystery to me, I just came back and have no idea what they are, how to get them, how to solo them or where to even find data on them as I have no clue what I am searching for.

Even with FFXI AH crafting is minorly profitable when you spend 100k on shihei mats only to have people sell it for 3k a stack and the 45 stacks you made net you a whopping 30k profit which is awesome for the millions I spent on leveling woodworking.

SE really needs to ban gilsellers and stop ruining their way they make money because you might screw them but your screwing your entire playerbase as well.

I really can't think of anything other then farming rams in lathine but its not a secret as you need widescan + TH(flee is nice too) and 2 crafts at decent levels to not have a full inventory after 20 minutes so its very exclusive.

But any other ideas? Anything in campaign that gives gil? I really have no idea...

I used to think plowing through Old Quadavs for helms would be more worth it if the economy ever takes a dive, now that it has I'm just too damn lazy to head out there. I'd rather just solo level jobs or do assault and slowly (very slowly) make money through npc'ing useless stuff, selling the less crappy and accumulating seals which one day, I'll blow on spamming Up in Arms (yes, I'm hopelessly hopeful). Every now and then I'll take a big yellow bird out for a stroll and see what it finds, but I lose so much time trying to find an empty zone and sending all the reasonably AH'able stuff to mules that the gil/hr isn't much better than farming.

There's a lot of ways to make gil. You just have to browse otherwiki/FFXI AH to see what sells.

Back in the day when I played all the time I made most of my money Gardening and farming Hakutaku Eyes on BST. I can't Garden anymore because I have a very sporadic play schedule, and Hakutaku Eyes aren't worthwhile these days, so I can't do this anymore.

Nowadays I don't really need to do much since my jobs are mostly set equipment wise and I only really pay for stuff like NIN tools and food. Honestly drops from whatever I happen to kill during routine gaming keep me afloat pretty well.

I make my gil the same ways as I've always done... combination of gardening, mining, harvesting, low-level basic crafting and desynthing and so forth. I've never have had a specific single way to make gil, I swap my methods around depending on what's profitable at the time and what I feel like doing. I've never really BCNM'd for gil, my luck's too shit for that. There's a gazillion ways in this game to make money, just need to look at AH and see what's selling at a consistent rate and go for that and despite SE nerfing NPC sell prices on some items there's still plenty of stuff you can sell to NPCs for a nice profit even if they don't go on AH.

There's a lot of crap items stupid people list on AH for 1k gil~ that you can NPC for far more than that, for example few years ago when Strange Apparatus method was unlocked and peeps went nuts spamming it I made a fortune buying useless rune weapons off AH for 1-2k each and NPCing for 12k gil. Same with Raxa when RMT were spamming Sky like maniacs and there were hundreds going on AH all the time. Just need to keep your eyes open and jump on an opportunity when you see it and good things never last so move on and find another thing to do. Sometimes quantity is better than quality, you can make more gil over time by doing many little things rather than hope for a +1 synth.

    Bender, enough said.

I ISNM/KSNM and used to ENM but my group fell apart. I NPC most drops I get from xp/merit, and I somehow just maintain the same gil level unless I make a huge purchase. Not sure how.
