Myself I find the trick not to do just one thing. Have a wide variety of methods that can be done at the same time.

I win 9/10 of my C1 races, so thats a easy 100K a day. Just spend 5 minutes talking to an npc and boom it's mine.

I have a couple arcane flowerpots in my MH I got lucky and dug up for fre ein buburimu while working on unlocking all 6 hot and cold areas, instead of selling them I kept them, and can now harvest a good 6-10 elemental ores every now and then when I feel like it.

Fishing is still one of the best ways to make money solo. If you enjoy it. At first it seems boring, but in all honesty I actually enjoy the minigame SE introduced. Trumpet shells go for 20K a stack on the AH in quetz, and there's at most 2-3 people ever sellign them, neithe rof which had a lu shangs so I pretty much owned that section of the economy while I was skilling.

If you have high level fishing. Go for ryugu titans when your bored. They sell for 20K EACH, or you can trade to zaldon for a 1/200 chance at an item worth a couple million. Though most fishers know about this by level 100 =P

In fact, now with the introduction of the level cap on fishing, I am makign a wild stab inthe dark that moat carps are about to sky rocket in price over in sandy. the everage price is 3K, I'd guess at them goign up to about 5-10K.

Considering it only takes me an hour and a half to fish up 20 stacks of the buggers, if you dont want lu shangs... $$$

Also leveling cooking with it is a nice way to profit on sushi. -.^

What else? Chocobo digging, as said before, nets a beautiful profit. I am rank 5, and already can dig up some nice stuff. I'm 1 rank away from elemental ores, but thats rare, so I stick to altep desert digging up coral fragments. OPn quetz they go for 200K a stack. Takes me about a week of digging about 5-10 stacks a day to do it. If I tried I could probably pull up a whole stack in 1 day...

What else? A rmt ls on my server will do all of the summon BCNMs in one day. With 6 people takign the cash reward, they can make a couple million pretty easily. Most likely eats up a lot o time, but could be staticed once a week...

Anotehr hint of mien is to follow the updates. Generally when a new event or item is released, the demand for it immieaditly skyrockets when people clamour for it before realizing it sucks.

    Fpr synthers, here's my technique...

First, go to ffxiah.com. Find all the things of your craft that have a high demand. Really high. Now sift through the list and find items that also net a decent profit.

Now, wait. When you see the supply of one of the items on your list, (IE 0 stacks of bloody bolts on ah) immeaditly plug in a bunch.

That's all I got for now, some other methods I'll keep to myself... -.^

Another retarded thread about some butthurt farmer blaming gilsellers for their NPCable farmings. SE nerfs all forms of NPCable farming. They always have, they always will. It has NOTHING to do with gilsellers. If you read they can ban RMT within 2 days of character creation now. Why would they nerf shit if they can ban them? Because selling shit to NPCs eventually leads to inflation. AKA it puts too much gil in the economy. Stop blaming RMT, stop whining. Everyone finds another way to farm eventually. This cycle has been going on since FFXI came out.

I will take inflation over depression any day of the week because the static recipes actually turn a profit.

Also why do they need to keep hurting a players way of making money too? Sure RMT abuse the system why don't they monitor it better and ban them instead of screwing over the player base?

WoW is able to ban the sellers yet keep the economy stable why can't SE?

IMO Just flag every account from china

Generally this just ties into their belief that even the smallest rewards should be tied to tedious, inane tasks.

The long and short of it if you want to make large amounts gil be ready to invest significant time into the game and get a group of people that will be there for you whenever needed.

I bolded the problem. There are tons of ways to make money and what works for some won't work for others. But the methods are there if you can find what works for you. But you have to think and plan and follow through with an idea.

But any other ideas? Anything in campaign that gives gil? I really have no idea...
    Yes actually, there is.

Check the AH, check the Wiki, look up numbers and figure out ways that can work best for you to make cash. Despite all of the good advice given in this topic, not everyone will be able to make the money they want. Because the best way to succeed is to find your own way.

The economy is plenty stable for people who make an effort to make gil

OPing to zitah and killing bats for 15-20 mins every game day is not making an effort to make gil

on the subject of getting rid of npc farmers, I found it kinda odd they made the food the moogles give for the event npc for 500-1100 gil a piece.
If youre really desperate you can whore that out, but I wouldnt recommend it. too much time wasted on walking back and forth

Um.... right.... Yes we should have to spend hours and hours pouring over ffxiah to find something to invest our time in. It's obviously the players' fault when a large amount of the population has trouble getting the gil for what they want. Even you said, "not everyone will be able to make the money they want." I'm not sure how you can think that's fair.

It is pretty obvious at this point SE does not want any inflation, so you have to find something that pretty much can be done by anyone (there are a few exceptions but not many.) Once you actually find a method to make gil it can often be ruined by too many people jumping on the bandwagon to do the same thing. So great, if you're in front of the curve you'll sometimes be able to make gil and the rest of the people are playing to catch up. That still boils down to whoever has the most time tends to be better off by a lot. So basically the more time you spend and the more gil you have already exponentially raises the amount of gil. If you're a newer player or have limited play time you'll basically fucked but you know, since it doesn't impact you think it's ok.

You want to sit there and say shit like, "there's lots of way to make gil." Ya, you are some what correct but you aren't giving it any context. Reality is you need to have a good deal of time to commit or have a group that can do stuff like ISNMs, ENMs, etc. When SE removes one way of making gil this impacts a lot of other people because the people who just lost their may become your competition.

I'm glad someone got why SE nerfed the shit out of NPC farming. It wasn't RMT, it was just the potental to lead to inflation like before. It didnt hurt your ability to obtain gil, it hurt your ability to -create- gil.

EDIT: HOLY SHIT. We have a breaking discovery: If you have more time and money to invest, you'll make more money. This earth-shattering discovery could change the world as we know it.

Seriously, this is how it will always be ANY economy. There's no way to change that. If you leave the NPC farming alone, it creates inflation and then NPC farming becomes less profitable in relation, creating the same exact issue in a different way, so we still have the same exact complaints.

Think there's a method somewhere, if you're a high enough level SMN, all you need to do is have carbuncle out, and go /heal at some of them fire camps somewhere where sound beastmen spawn. As they spawn, it'll aggro you, but carbuncle will one shot them as they do. And because they're too weak to kill carbuncle, it won't matter too much what happens, carbuncle will keep killing, and you keep collecting small bits of gil.

Say you're in .... K.Highlands, every 5 mins should net you about 200g (assuming SMN/THF)...

    5 mins = 200g
    1 hour (60 mins) = 2400g
    24 hours = 57600g
    1 week = 403200
    2 weeks = Emergency maintenance

The argument against spending time to make money is retarded tbh...

Why do people pay money for stuffs? Cause they don't want to spend the time workign at drop or farming them, and prefer getting it from ah at a cost of gil they can make their ow preerable way.

So why would someone pay money for something they could just go out and get themselves after 5 mins of work? It doesnt work that way.

The average cost of things in the game is roughly 1 hour = 100K. For every hour it takes to work at, it costs 100K.

So 30 seals takes about 3-4 hours to get, then a quick BCNM for chance at utsu scroll, thus the price is about 300-450K.

Rare drops of of mobs that pop every coupel hours are a couple hundred K each. So on and so forth.

There are very rare instances you can make money faster than this. These instances are for items that don't take long to farm/obtain, but do require certain limitations to be met that few people do meet.

IE trumpet shells end up nettign about 250-300K an hour, triple the rate, but you're gonna want 50-60 fishing skill, lu shangs, and a very expensive robber rig if you wanna attempt it.

SE isn't removing npc selling for RMT, they're removing it cause they want the economy to be supportable. Selling to NPC over AH is not helping the cost of mats and thus the price of the result isn't worth the work.

Nice idea, but you can't /heal with an avatar out. It kicks you out of /heal mode just before your first hMP tick would happen.

On topic though, making gil is all dependant on your ability to invest. Invest gil, time, or effort...something must be done. Yes there are people that have ridiculous luck, where they 1/1 KC BCNM or w/e, but if you if you intend to make usable gil on that you're screwed. Like everyone else has stated, find a niche that will net you moderate amounts of gil at a time and do it frequently. Gil doesn't shine down from the heavens. I have my ways of making gil which are far from secret, but they complement my play time and I make the best out of them. Stick it out long enough and the results will come.

That's the attitude that drives away all but us FFXI diehards. I'm not saying it's hard to make gil for basic gear and food but it's still a pain in the ass to drop what you're doing to go BCNM, farm, etc. When it comes to endgame gil for HQ gear making that much is mostly luck and spending huge amounts of time which a lot of people just don't have.

This is where it just boils down to opinion. I don't agree that stuff like HQ Haubies, Salvage Bodies, etc. should cost as much as they do, others think it's fine.
