Finally found my favorite mech game: Cyberstorm Missionforce -

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...torm_Cover.jpg

I'm not sure how hot this game was back in '96, wikipedia didn't make it very clear. If you don't have Vista (trust me, it will NOT work on Vista), you should grab this.

Took 13 pages for this to happen, I'm actually rather surprised it took this long.

If anyone can think of this game I'd greatly appreciate it but I don't have much information on it hence the reason why I can't find it.

All I know is that it definitely was NOT Beyond Oasis because I remember that game being impossible to beat and the fact that the save never worked and erased my game all the time.

It was definitely for Sega Genesis because that's the only console I had as a kid.

It was a platforming adventure similar to zelda with hearts like health gauge and items and stuff.

It also had an isometric view like perspective.

    It was fun as shit.

    And go.

*edit looking through some more games I'm thinking it might have been Landstalker, but I'm not sure yet.

    You kill satan at the end of the game, and your primary weapon is fruit! <_<;

OMG! I can't believe anyone else has actually played this. XD My parents bought this game for us as kids.

Yeah, you threw "fruits of the spirit" at the bad guys and when they got hit they fell to their knees and prayed before floating up off the screen to heaven presumably lol. Hilarious looking back. XD

Did anyone else ever play a DOS based game called Fred's Backyard? :D

It was one of the first games I ever played. So old it was mostly text without any real graphics. It might be more popular than I thought because I've just found it for download on through a google search here!

I fucking loved this game. Reminded me of North and South but more fun. My friends and I used to have all out wars that would go back and fourth for hours leading to each of our capitols but we managed to push each other back at the final battle. I hope this becomes a DL with online multi-player one day.

Anyway, my new favorite is this:
Got it from a bargain bin some 5 years ago, hated it because of the steep learning curve. For some reason, I felt determined to learn the squad based system and fell in love with the Rainbow 6 style gameplay. Beware! you need a lot of patience and a heavy strategy gaming background because the game stops holding your hand after the 5th mission and you really have to take advantage of planning routes, checkpoints, and learning guerrilla tactics against overwhelming and superior odds.
One of my favorite tactics is sending 2 squads to draw enemy fire while sending my main squad to flank the enemy with little trouble. My only gripe is this didn't come out on X-Box. If there ever was a game (that wasn't a halo-clone) that could seriously take advantage of X-Box live, this would be it.

I still have mine! Along with those games AND Darkwing Duck! =P

Also, on PS1, Alundra was a damn hard rpg that had me hooked forever cuz it was so damn difficult that I wanted to keep playing just to prove I could beat the damn thing.

Still have it with my old dreamcast. I play it sometimes when I'm bored. I wish they would make a true gundam game like this not the new one Operation Troy that's coming out for the 360. Maybe its me but I still have the music in my head when you're playing a mission.

Best game ever, I doubt I'm the only one who played this though. And no I don't mean the German version.

I agree, sounds like "Landstalker." Do you remember how the controls were? If you could only move in the four hard directions and not diagonally, it was "Landstalker."

Hilarious looking back, completely plausible back then.

That's why I had to do it. Went back and looked but was shocked at the result.
