Fuck that to each his or her own opinion. Saying a game sucks with only a level 7 is just a dumbass thing to say. Instead correct yourself and say "I wasn't smart enough to experience the game play cause I noob'd out at level 7"

Switching subjects.

I noticed the game gets a bit harder after level 12 or 13ish. The amount of quests available kinda dwindles down. I believe that was the first time I actually had to go searching for quests. Unfortunately the beta ends later tonight and I was only able to reach level 15.

Really wanted to see what the Abyss was like. Only one person out of 20 or so in my english legion made it to 25. Never really talked to him about how it was.

After playing assassin to 15 and then making use of my bow I picked up from a quest I found out that you can shoot while running. That kinda makes me want to level a ranger when NA version comes out.

It's basically tiered zone with fortresses you can take control of (legions). I actually spent quite a bit of time leveling here, as you got abyss points for killing the mobs as well as exp. You can trade in points for pvp gear.

the bottom zone has the asmodian and elyos bases on opposite ends and its basically free for all pvp (other than bases)

So four of my freinds and I will probably play this game, giving us a static group of 5 people. Would 1 tank, 1 healer, 3 DDs sound like a fair (if challenging) shot at the game for overall content?

You will destroy everything until later teens apparently. Two people partying is enough to own every quest up to 15 easily. As someone said quests and missions become group required in the late teens.

That being said, it might have been because the game wasn't truly in english; I'd probably appreciate it more if it we're, in the fact that I might take the time to read all of the text instead of just text or whatever.

Yeah I used the patch, but I didn't take the time with it like I would if i bought it off the shelf. (Although the english patch was fairly awesome, im not knocking that) I jsut wasnt as excited about playing the game as I was wanting to play the game.

English patch was near perfect until lv about lv 25, since that's about as far as they currently are w/ the last release. Yeah a few minor details here and there, but quest/mission stories were translated near flawlessly and didn't detract from the game feel at all imo

Like I said; the patch was great, I guess it's just personal preference and maybe I was wrong with what I said, but personally I don't think I'm gunna pick it up.

still no word of us/eu though :/

Actually, the ENU patch is a leaked/lifted version of the NA/EU Friends & Family beta. It's near perfect until mid 20's where it dies off (as far as they have gotten w/ the leaked version - so I'm sure it's much further now), but it shows how far they have come. So the ENU.patch is from NCwest... so if you say it "deters" from the experience then dunno how the NA release will be any diff from you aside your QQ'ing just to QQ. Only diff from the NA vs China retail will be : Localization (fully complete), change of a few key China folklore quests to fit westernization, CS's will be in a more western format, and things like that. If anything, the reason why the translation may seem a "little" misplaces at times it's because we are using a China UI where window's and stuff aren't made for NA release.

And for those who want to continue in P2P - here is a link to how to do that from a trusted source. I take no credit for all the info, just spreading the info on how to play for China retail. You don't need a registration key or any of that, its just Pay to Play. Remember if your using an Adult ID you alrdy are using the info of some person (lol), and i guess P2P doesn't require a reg code. Still doesn't make sense that they don't charge you for the game, but you can buy it from a gaming store so maybe just those who DL/ torrented the client got lucky

NCwest is dealing w/our version of the game and their time table (from what I understand) has no bearing on the JP version of the game since each country is a diff team (NCjapan / NCchina / ect... afaik). Our version is slated for release sometime around July - Sept (according to dev post), and you can expect a small beta between that time also

I think our release is September-October and from what I've read, no beta for us, just the "preview events" which will include a very limited number of people.

Just got my Aion family and friends test code / install file (I got a buddy working in NCsoft).

Still highly skeptical about it considering it's an asian MMO, but I will install and dick around.

FFXI is "asian" too, and you liked it. I'd suggest just going into it with an open mind. Since you are able to test it for free, you dont have to worry about the pressure of "I paid for this?!" whether its a good or bad feeling.
