I am keeping hopes high for this game. I know a ton of old FFXI friends that have been waiting for this one a long, long time.

Yeah, that program that runs in the bottom right is called Game Guard. It really just causes more problems than it solves.
Alot of folks are hoping for the best when it comes to Aion. It has the makeup to be one of the bigger/better MMORPGs out there.
NCsoft has its rep for "korean grind games", but Aions seems to be breaking that mold.
/cheer!!
I don't mind the usual korean grind MMOs when they're as awesome as Lineage II. And since this is basically Lineage II w/ wings.. who the fuck cares if it takes a year to get to Lv80 (or whatever the max level is in this game), shit is worth it. NCSoft makes ballin' gaemz yo.
Keep in mind, when WoW first launched its Warden anti-cheating software, people were pretty up in arms (It monitors your processes / memory) but now, 11.5M people later, few even remember it going inhmmm NCsoft.... I remember that from somewhere.... is it the company that runs some small "anti cheat" program you see in the bottom right corner (or wherever) and blocks some certain key press combo's or something.
Off topic but...any word on Blade & Soul?![]()
Any new infos on this or naw? trolled a few sites but cant find any signs of when its coming out in NA. Anyone know? + anyone have any idea as to what type of legions/guilds/linkshells this game will require? will it need like huge like xbox numbers for raids or is an elite group of friends ( 'bout 6-8 ) good enough to tackle the games content.
Most of the raid boss videos has 25-40 people on a mob.
Chinese Open Beta started early january, release is expected to be late feb/early march, US/EU Preview Events (like a closed beta, just not beta anymore) is expected to be end of april making the currently estimated release date for US/EU end of may/early june.
Those dates are based of an interview in which the korean president of NCSoft said the releases will come in an 2-3 month rhythm korea->china->US/EU->japan->others.
Yay Aion topic! Sooooooooooo many asurans are planning to move to this game when it comes out, so we're all crossing our fingers. I'm also planning to try it out at least with a lot of people in our LS - the bannings from SE have left a nasty taste in the mouth of all of our friends and a lot of us do not really want to pay SE anymore hence we're looking outside.
Anyway! My main question since someone from retail is posting here, mainly about PvP :
- How long have you been playing / are you in endgame yet?
- I heard something about you having to level up to get a bigger maximum number of people in your LS, is this true?
- How "gil dependant" is this game? Will we be farming all day yet again?
- How many instanced PvE raids are there / are there enough to keep people entertained at least twice weekly, like Dynamis?
- Are there instances for lower levels, like if my whole Legion isn't lvl40 , are there lvl20 raids to go on?
- I heard a rumour about PvP and factions, like if you guys start up an instance, people from the other faction can enter your instance and rape your guys causing you to fail, is this true?
Thanks a bunch . I've never played any PvP games but that is the only reason I'm quite hesitant about this game, I don't like people who sit soley to gank & grief people, nor do I like the fact (if true) about people entering instances and being able to kill others.
This game does look promising and exciting, 5 years of FFXI and the latest handling really makes me want to put my money elsewhere, just I'd love to bring my friends along too since it'll be boring alone![]()
Thanks in advance.
If Wafik plays, that settles it for me!
..no not really. =P But yeah, the game is still looking really interesting. May be my first MMO I want to play past a beta since FFXI>
I don't know if that's the case in Aion, but it is in L2 which is also an NCSoft game. I personally loved that aspect of L2, and I hope it's in Aion. NCSoft came up with my favorite clan/guild/LS leveling system to date for L2, so I hope they use a similar system for Aion.
Alt we should totally go to same server when this comes out, totally.
-From what i've read and my experience with other non ffxi mmos.. most mobs shit gil and most of the good armor is obtained through the raids and/or pvp ranks. While the option of farming for money will be there, you dont really need to.. atleast not as much ;x.
-All i saw mentioned so far about instances is that there are two? atm.. on mid lvl one and a higher lvl one that people seem to say are fairly easy. Didnt see people mention anything about people being able to gang up on you while in the instances.. the name itself suggests that only your group can enter. Game just launched so not so much content for the endgame atm and difficulty needs some adjustments as well.
-I dont think you'll be getting ganked in your own territory much. Most of the pvp will be held in specific areas, mostly in that npc controlled part.
Have no clue about the other questions since i didnt read anything about it and i havent played the game yet. One aspect of the endgame that I'm looking forward too is the ability for legions(the games name for linkshells) to take over and controll castles in the middle part of the world. There will be like 8-10 castles and once you take over one of 'em they give your legion(from what i understand its just your legion, not the whole faction) certain benefits like getting money from some tax, access to vendor npcs/lower prices and maybe some other crap but i cant remember too well.
Anyone have some more info on that? most sites i troll are fairly weak info wise.
so if i choose to be an asmodian and wafik chooses to be an elyo, we can't like be in the same linkshell and do stuff together right..? i'm also wondering what the collector's edition ($70) has that the regular version ($50) doesn't have. and i'm assuming it should work on vista right. i'm semi-interested in this game. looks awesome but like wafik said, i'm not looking forward to getting butt-raped in pvp.
A new computer game that doesn't work on vista would be the biggest marketing flaw I could think of. And if it's like any other MMO I've known, unless you pick opposite factions you can be in the same guild. It would only be restricted by class if one faction has a class that the other didn't.
There will always be greifers in a PvP MMO... but it's never been such a big problem to bother me & i wouldn't get all worked up over it.
Chinese open beta hasn't begun yet; they had a closed beta in december. No word on NA/EU release date other than 2009, and that they will have preview events beforehand. I haven't played, just read a lot at AionSource.com - Aion: the Tower of Eternity Fansite. Sounds like a lot of the good gear will be crafted rather than dropped, and the dropped stuff rates aren't very high. I want to say the earliest instance is around 25-30 but could be wrong there. PvP against your own race can only be done at training arena, PvP against the other race is done in the Abyss (starts around 25ish+). There are castles/forts you can take control of in the Abyss and get NPCs to help you defend. I don't *think* the other race can enter the zones of your race, but I'm not positive on that. Mobs are not tagged/claimed as they are in FFXI, sounds like it coems down to the highest damage dealer gets exp/loot. I know I read something about having to increase level or membership or something to allow your guild more slots for members, money involved too I think. When you die you lose exp, which you can buy at least a portion back with money. There is no armor durability like WoW or other games. Players from opposite races cannot communicate in any way ingame, so your friends all have to be same side. They haven't stated any info about a collector's edition, or that there will even be one for sure. From what I've read, you really don't want to go in the Abyss w/ a pt or friends. There are quests you can do in the Abyss and outside in the normal areas for exp. You get wings/flying at lv10 in a quest and upgraded wings at 30.
edit: There is no job changing, and current cap is 45 afaik. You don't have a subjob either, but you pick 1 of 4 'classes' at the beginning and at lv10 you pick 1 of the 2 specializations in that class. Those are Templar(pld)/Galdiator(war), Ranger(rng)/Assassin(thf), Priest(whm)/Chanter(brd), Sorcerer(blm+rdm)/Spiritmaster(smn).
edit2: Lots or gorgeous screenshots here: http://www.aionsource.com/forum/imag...-all-here.html
Game looks hawt. Sooo can't wait for this shit...
