The basic reality is that if anyone remember's the state that a game like FFXI was in prelaunch and even early launch compared to now, you'd see that the game still needs a lot of work. The biggest unfortunate issue that came out of beta weekend was that they chose to give you a look at the way the game's first itteration was and not what it is currently. The game is a Korean game, the asian MMO market is much more comfortable with the more "hardcore" aspects of MMOs. They are much more comfortable with putting content out there and having it fixed while they play.
As it is 1.0 Aion is a much more stable game than AoC or Warhammer were at release. It has its glaring flaws, however a good number of those flaws have been addressed through the 1.1 and 1.2 patches to the Korean release. If you are basing your opinions of the game on comparing it to WoW, Warhammer, or even FFXI vs the shown version, I would encourage you to wait til we see further beta weekends to see whats going to be the final release.
As of now C-Aion is fun, its hugely flawed, more so because of the responsiveness and lag felt by having to have the server in north china. Yet it is a completely fun and well worth it alternative to the stagnant and increasingly easier and easier World of Warcraft and the 7 year old FFXI. If anything this game will give you a deeper sense of story than WoW or any other MMO since FFXI.
