I don't know about official 1.3 notes, but there is a translated news article about it in the aionsource news forum. Pretty neat stuff in there. Instance invading a Balaur Dreadgion thing is pretty hawt, where you have to deal with them and possibly the other race in there as well.

Most retarded thing ever. It basically means if NA ppl want to play on EU servers they need to buy that version, and vice-versa. I'll be surprised if it goes live though, they can't honestly think making a move like that is "best" for the game. I never understood the point of region specific servers (since i started in FFXI and loved that the servers were worldwide)

Honestly, 85% of aionsource is speculation, 14% whining, and only 1% good information. I'd wait till we actually get solid confirmation from NCsoft before the raging. Usually for important issues like this they're good about makng announcements, give it a little time.

Was considering playing this 'til XIV hits, definitely shan't if the region locking is true. They should just do regional servers but let you choose if you want to play on a region not your own.

Don't think it's IP banning. The game you buy/DL/ect... is region restricted to only allow you to "X" server sets. I'm sure it can be hacked to allow otherwise, but it's why the people on the China client can't just continue to use the P2P model (using their china account) to play on the US/EU release servers (not counting in server update issues). China client is restricted to China servers, so, if they decide to region lock NA/EU, it will be the same way.

The linkshell I was the leader of in FF11 forever was about 65-70% JP, so that kind of sucks because I was planning to play with many of those guys/gals.

I don't hate the idea though.

We're not asking for combined servers... we're asking for people who want to play the NA version from Europe to be able to buy the NA version and play it... you think someone would want to do that who doesn't speak fucking English?

I won't be playing it if they institute such a ridiculous, xenophobic block. Half of my friends are from outside NA... and speak perfectly fine English.

This may come as a shock to your blinkered american ass, but there are a great many people who live outside the US who speak perfect english.

Forced seperate servers is bad but the idea of region specific servers itself isn't terrible. Time zones alone make it reasonable, language barriers are part of it too though. I know I'd rather be on a server with Americans who speak my dialect of english and are going to be most active during the time I am also most active, as opposed to splitting the activity. It's bad for both parties.

Anyway, I have no problem with separate servers and separate versions, but if someone in EU wants to buy an NA version and play on NA servers... why stop them... makes no sense. This is 2009, it's a global society, for fuck's sake.

Everyone in EU doesn't play during EU times. Some play during NA times due to, say, work.

So I ended up re-rolling a Gladiator over my Ranger. The ranger has very little survivability as far as I got (13). Sure there's traps you can set but how long they last is random, and some mobs would resist.

My new Characters name is Pinsy if anyone wants to add me.

The current obstacle I've encountered is I'm at the point where many missions and quests involve me killing mobs that require groups. So I can't exp very efficiently when I run out of quests and there's no one to group up with that speaks english.
