Aion will not be heavy grinding like L2.

At least it shouldn't be, one of the main concepts of the game was that it would be unlike all of NCSofts other games, which are 95% grinding.

At 17/18 you hit kind of a rough spot since you're almost forced to join a group to do quests (at least for elyos) So far 20-22 has been pretty easy solo actually. (Not 22 yet but very close) My only concern is that once you go to a new area there are a ton of quests open for you, but once you do them all and you're still not ready for the next area, you're kind of SOL. The repeatable quests give a laughable amount of exp.

On Seil, in the closed NA Beta we've got Excellence with Stan, Neph, and others I was playing solo for the first event and most of the 2nd one til Stan sent me something on Aim lol. Got x10 more fun with people I know playing!

Try this. You might have patched to their "test" region which has a different patch version, so it won't let you play on regions on a previous patch. That exe should set you back to the "current" version. (Download is from SDO.com)

If for some reason you can't download from there, its been upped on Megaupload .

I think there was a fix for this (w7 GG) somewhere on Aionsource iirc.

The fix only works for 64bit w7. 32bit apparently works for C-Aion, but the NA client is using the old GG that doesn't work at all. I either BSoD or get an Error:0 code.

I'm worried I won't get my beta key in time because reading through it says to pre-order 5 business days in advance and I only ordered it on Saturday so it will have been ~4 business days. How many business days after your purchase did they email you the information, did it come from Amazon/Gamestop or Aion themselves? Also, do they mail out the keys after the 2-3 day period before the beta or is that window the only time they will hand out keys?

I preordered online at gamestop, I want to say less than a week before the first beta and I'm pretty sure I had my key before it started. It didn't come when I ordered, I think it was a couple days later, but my memory on that is not fo sho.

News: no v1.3, v1.5 is reported to be the next and on the korean test server this week and live next month in korea. Doesn't sound like anything new, they are just changing the version number to 1.5. The guy who posted it on AS said it should be real close for na as well and we shouldn't have to wait long for it.

If you want to be sure and get your key in time, call in or physically go to a gamestop or other store that carries it. I've heard of people getting their keys over the phone when they preordered that way. If you go to a store, they should~ give you one right then and there, if it's available.

So, who here plans on rolling Elyos when the game gets released? I would love playing with some people I can depend on to be pretty skilled who also have the same goals that I do (getting to max level in a few months, but enjoying the ride along the way). If anyone is interested in starting an Elyos guild, let me know. Maybe we can roll on the same server as the Asmodian BG guild that has already started and have some epic battles!
