they have to let you cancel, just threaten to call customer service if they wont
It might be a little late to jump into this but I was curious if the game is good? What is everybody's take on it? Im still loving XI 6 years after the fact but was curious.
Already have the beta client installed since CB1 for NAs and been playing on a friends CN Aion account for a while before my comp crapped out on me.
Can't wait till this game goes live and I get a Templar to 50 and raep faces with it.
@Meko
The game is in some parts a "WoW clone" but what game isn't these days? All good MMOs take from WoW what it did right, but it also has a FFXI feel to it and it is a gorgeous game overall. Not to mention decently balanced PVP and PVPVE with the Balduur(sp) in The Abyss sounds like it'll be kick ass, can't wait to get a 25 next beta and try out Abyss.
I gotta say Im a big fan so far and Im planning on switching to Aion when it hits retail.
all new MMOs will be clones to a certain extent due to taking things that work from other games like Leb said. The 2 major things that got me hooked was firstly the combat-system with abilities unlocking other abilities, making it feel alot like the oldschool Action-RPGs. The second thing was the crafting, which I honestly think was perfectly pulled off. Its not too easy like wow which is just rubbish, and its not too hard like XI tends to be (spend insane amounts of money and/or time). The work-orders were the best idea in crafting Ive ever experienced...and you can HQ! :D
I only managed to get to 17 in the last beta so Im looking at 25 next time which should be interesting.
oh yeah, the channel-system was also a god damn brilliant idea. hitting an area where you need to kill X mobs of a certain kind for a quest but the place is camped so you still lack a few? swap channel and get the rest of the ones you need. brilliant.
I'm not sure if anyone has gotten to "end-game" yet, I understand that this game hasnt been out long yet (beta wise). I was wondering if from what you guys have experienced so far if this game will be anything like FFXI endgame wise as in LS or guild killing a BIG HNM or Monster like Fafnir or something along the lines of that for really good gear. Or do you just do that 50 man vs Fortress thing? Which sounds awsome!
it sounded like they are taking the route of instanced dungeons for the most part, leaving the "world-mobs" to abyss? Im probably wrong tho
edit: well, maybe Im not wronghttp://www.aionsource.com/wiki/Dungeons looks like wows route with 6man-dungeons and all-out-brawl wintergrasp-style. Im guessing and hopeing they will add raids (10m/20m/40m?)
Is it Friday yet? Shit.
I've been watching videos for the past 2 weeks and I'm running out of shit to hype myself out on. I really wish there were more than 6 of those PvP Tournament videos, they were pretty awesome to watch.
Been trying to decide what I want to play, still torn between Sorcerer/Spiritmaster, Chanter, and Ranger.
Yeah I know I'm thinking too much about this game but I have nothing better to do when I'm at work at 4 AM lol.
Tell me about it. I'm slapping myself for not getting into C-Aion, because this week in between beta's feels forever.
I wish I could just get my hands on the Character Creator, it reminds me a lot of City of Heroes with how detailed it seems, I swear I spent more time on CoH creating characters than actually playing the damn game.
I know it's just Beta but I'm the kind of person who would sit and spend like several hours trying to make my character perfect.
yea thats all my wife did the last beta event, spent like 10hours making characters
A friend and I are working on a competitor site to armory with the db, forums, and a wiki. Ideally, it'll be cross between somepage (when it didn't suck), ffxiclopeida, and here (more advanced players, fewer idiots).
Really though, the game files are a bitch, and are loaded with erroneous crap. I can see where most of the inaccurate info came from.
How does the channel system work exactly?
It's a separate instance of the same zone. If you're doing a quest and you see a lot of people killing your mobs, just change channel til you find less people. It's just for the starter areas, but it keeps from having to deal with hundreds of people fighting over 1 mob.
The 1-10 and 10-20 zones have multiple instances to alleviate newbie crowding, called channels. You can switch between 'em. Only those first 2 zones on each side, though.
Changing channels changes what players are around. Like if we were standing in the exact same spot on the same server, but I was in channel 1, and you were in channel 3, we wouldn't see each other and can't interact with each other physically. You can still invite them to parties, whisper, but idk if shouts work across channels. If you're exping in an area that's too crowded, you can change channels and hope to find one that's not as crowded.
Not to mention changing channels to one that has a lot of people so you don't have to worry about clearing mobs to get to your specific one.
lmfao, I have played games with channels before, I was more wondering how to actually do it in the game. What is the command for it.
