Really? I didn't think the requirements were that bad. I'm over the recommended spec and my machine is at least 2 years old. :/

Their specs are decent for any PC gamer of current, but anyone who's "Barely running" FF on their PC and wants to play this will def need an upgrade!

Also : <3 Newborn by muse, the original not the remix.

That's a pretty good way to spend money I think.

Those specs aren't really shit. I doubt the game will out out anytime soon (at least 5 months); you can't save up enough money to upgrade in that time? Computer parts are cheap now for great specs.

Amazon and EBGames preorder both have dates for May this year, but I don't have my hopes up. Not exactly reliable sources.

Thanks for that Avelle... Those specs are too rich for my blood though. Maybe I can come up with something by May though... I'd really like to try it. Also, I don't think it looks mundane, although I would prefer a larger selection of classes/jobs/etc.

I used to enjoy a giant range of jobs untill I played FFXI. It's better to have a smaller selection of jobs with defined roles, than a large selection of jobs where a lot are unused or too similar to each other.

Out of the last 2 expansions, tell me which job of those , if removed from FFXI, would make a significant difference at all? What could be done before those jobs can be done after those jobs, the only thing I can think of where one of those jobs were make or break to a fight is Pande Warden, where they are exploiting double weakness from BLU.

I don't think many of the jobs in FFXI are necessary, but then again, I don't think SE did a great "job" with diversifying the roles that each played. I don't mind having a similar role to another class, yet having a defined niche specific to each. My main reason for wanting a variety (which may actually be satisfied by the available customization within the game, don't know yet) is so that you can avoid the "clone" classes of FFXI. Everyone has 10 jobs... all of those people want the same gear for those same jobs with the same abilities because some abilities are clearly better than others.

There is no "I'm a job A with specialization in area B". There is "I am job A with the only good specializations there are and everyone else who plays this job is the exact same". That gets boring fast.

Current client needs ~9GB even with a few expansions/updates you won't reach that 30GB

Some good news about the rumor of Japan release coming before NA/EU release from the NCSoft Community Manager for Aion:

Wish I could give you something here, but I can't comment on what and when other territories are doing things. We're working with our own release goals and aims here in EU/US, and they're not really tied with those of other territories.

WoW is pretty good at doing that. Atleast better than FFXI. I hate WoW but I still play it.

Yeah the 30g is a bit of an over estimate at least now. I have a 60g hd with XP, Office 2k7, FFXI, and Aion installed and all that together is about 27g or so I believe. I don't think Aion as any bigger than FFXI atm.

It seems to be a bit less grindy than FFXI so far, but I'm only lv5. ;; Getting the exp from questing definitely speeds it up like WoW. The TNLs are quite a bit different from FFXI; for lv4>5 you need to get like 8k exp, but you get 200-300 a mob and they die in 2-3 fireball spells. Oh, and the mobs in the starting areas respawn crazy fast, like a minute or 2 tops.

The visuals are pretty nice, and their windowed mode lets you resize it however you like. There is also a setting to scale the UI elements if you think they are too big, and there are 2 UI styles to choose from (they just put things in the default place, or in WoW's places). So far I've been able to run at max settings minus AA or AF (couldn't really see much of a difference briefly) at about 60fps+ on a C2D 6300 I think (1.86ghz, o/c to 2.3), 8600GT, 2g ram. Haven't hit a heavily populated area yet besides the opening Elyos town.

Well I have a 2.0ghz P4, 768MB RAM and an ATI Radeon 9700, so I dunno if I'd be able to run it on minimum specs, lol.
