My friend is an idiot
Note, do not click link below because Im 99% sure it will give you a virus.
And got a virus on my computer, at this site mod edit: link removed
or so he says, whats the best way to get rid of this?

No need to risk users by posting the link. We need the name of the virus that's coming up with scans, or a hijack-this log.

Well, in the bottom right of my screen there's a red x and it says "You have a security problem" then takes me to some phony antivirus site if I click it. I've scanned and can't seem to find any problems, but I'm getting a lot of pop ups and like I said the red X in the corner. My friend said he went to watch a video and it showed windows media player and firefox asked him if he wanted to save the file and he did. I'm pretty sure thats what did it, I just don't know how to get rid of it (again, I don't know if saying that helps, I don't know shit about viruses and spyware and such)

I donated 5 bucks and all I got was this shitty title from Zet
Sounds very much like that fake anti-virus app, "WinAnti-Virus 2009" or some shit.
Just do the normal Spybot -> Malwarebytes -> AVG anti-virus -> Hijackthis routine, that should eliminate it.
If I'm not mistaken, that particular app has running processes at all times, so you might need to hit Ctrl-Shift-Esc to get into Task Manager and end the malware tasks before you run your scans.

Sounds like one of those fake anti-virus spyware apps. Download and run MalwareBytes (link is in Apps and Utilities thread, or just google it) run it and see what it comes up with.
Obviously don't click on the pop-ups or buy the stuff it tells you to, they're all scams.

Also, if you aren't already (and that's how it sounds), download and start using these add-ons (plug-ins): NoScript, Flashblock, Adblock Plus, WOT, and Popup Master.
