Can anyone elaborate on the whole Evangelical Christians needing Jews to have Israel so the second coming can take place?

That seems pretty damn creepy and reminds me of Evangelion, where everything needs to take place in order for Third Impact to happen.

Isn't everyone in Israel supposed to die for that to happen?

Anyways here's Joe Scarborough being a retard on national television by regurgitating propaganda:

Zbigniew Brzezinski Calls Joe Scarborough 'Stunningly Superficial'

    Mika's dad is awesome.

I'm happy I read this thread. I was really clueless as to what the fuck goes on over there, and now I got to see how crazy both sides are!

I heard that a group of Americans on a supply boat destined for Gaza got hit by the Israelis, but can't find a solid source atm. anyone hear about this?

Also, is it worth considering that the elected Hamas members possibly don't have hard control over the low-level members of the general group? Not to deny the responsibility of Hamas for the rocket attacks (that would be silly) but I feel like Israel taking a state-to-state extreme retaliation approach just isn't appropriate.

Residue- the United States' conduct following 9/11 has been pretty deplorable, and basically everyone critical of Israel right now is critical of the US's actions as well. Your trump card really isn't a trump card in this case.

say what you want about the woman (she's hardly a favorite political figure of mine) but I'm sure as hell not gonna knock her for joining a group of doctors to deliver medical supplies to needy people.

Of course, I don't think anyone should or will knock her for that. I'm certainly gonna knock her for being a complete nutjob, though.

In the video I posted I think Mika's father said that a low-level group associated to Hamas fired the rockets but not Hamas itself.

Turkey is a terrorist state but we support them.
Successor of a 700 year old empire, a democratic, secular, constitutional republic that's one of the earliest members of NATO and a EU candidate? What the bloody fuck are you talking about?

I already pointed out an example, that Israel, was accepted into the UN, under resolution 273, under the condition that it accept the implementation of Resolution 194.

Resolution 194, specifically applies the right of return to the Palestinian refugees. Paragraph 11 states "that the refugees wishing to return to their homes and live at peace with their neighbors should be permitted to do so at the earliest practicable date, and that compensation should be paid for the property of those choosing not to return and for loss of or damage to property which, under principles of international law or in equity, should be made good by the Governments or authorities responsible."

Therefore, Israel is bound, as a condition of membership in the UN, to implement 194 and to facilitate the return of the Palestinian refugees.

Now, has that happened? Will it ever happen?

So what does, for example, Israel's membership in the UN mean?

Similarly, what the hell do ANY of those credentials you listed have to do with my comments on Turkey? You think that's a barometer for human rights? Or civil rights? Or terrorism? Turkey utterly fails in each regard, lacking even the most elementary rights like freedom of speech.

Please read up on TERRORISM that was carried out in Southeastern Turkey during the 90s. Mass ethnic cleansings and other atrocities.

Intellectuals and dissidents and human rights workers get exiled for speaking out against the government on a regular basis. They get imprisoned for their dissidence. (See: Jonathan Sugden and Leyla Zana for example.)

I don't know, google? None of this is controversial. Your confuzzlement is hilarious.

Even if what I said was incorrect (the content/details), as an example of critical thinking, none of those credentials mean a damn thing.

There is no correlation between a country's domestic prosperity and it's external behavior (foreign policy/military arm).

That's giving you an infinitely generous scenario in which Turkey has domestic prosperity. It doesn't.

Mass ethnic cleansings and other atrocities.
Do you even know what a "mass ethnic cleansing" is? Go repeat your history class. Kindly show me one single credible source for this(shouldn't be hard to find one, after all we are talking about 15-20 year old GENOCIDDE). One, single, official non-biased document. Southeastern Turkey always had different ethnic groups, no "cleansing" or whatever has been done there. They are still there and controlled by their officials. The only terrorism out there was carried out by a group AGAINST The Republic of Turkey.

Only one communist "intellectual" has been "exiled" and later on, he was allowed to return. Now he is considered a national hero for many.

"Mass Ethnic Cleansing". Fucking wow. And your source? "An article about human rights!" I can counter that with ten million individual "articles"(opinions).
And lack of Freedom of Speech? Zana's group has a fucking political party that does nothing but speech, talk every single day.
I did enjoy seeing you backpedaling from "terrorist country" to individual human right issues that involve 2-3 exiles dating back to 50 years ago(almost every single coutry has similar stories), though. You are getting there!

Sure. This is easy. Like I said, google.

Last Chance for Turkey's Displaced? | Human Rights Watch

Turkish state forces violently and illegally displaced upwards of 380,000 Kurdish villagers in the 1990s during a conflict with the Kurdish Workers Party (PKK) in southeast Turkey. Turkey should stop fending off the legitimate involvement of international agencies and make a formal declaration to integrate them in its return plans.
Next, freedom of expression and free speech. You mentioned 1 communist dissident? I listed 2 dissidents. There are many more. Sugden was kicked out. Leyla has done time for dissidence already. I do recall she's either in jail now or just got out.

Questions and Answers: Freedom of Expression and Language Rights in Turkey | Human Rights Watch

Turkey's human rights record is marred by its severe restrictions on the right to freedom of expression. Individuals in Turkey face prosecution and prison terms merely for using forbidden minority languages or expressing opinions on certain taboo subjects. The European Union indicated that it expected Turkey to resolve its free expression problems by March 2002. Recent months have seen the Turkish government trying to meet that goal with legislative half-measures that have brought little real change. The following are answers to basic questions about respect for the right to free expression and language rights in Turkey.
    - I'm not backpedaling at all. What Turkey has done to it's Kurdish population is terrorism.

Human Rights Watch is one of the world’s leading independent organizations dedicated to defending and protecting human rights. By focusing international attention where human rights are violated, we give voice to the oppressed and hold oppressors accountable for their crimes. Our rigorous, objective investigations and strategic, targeted advocacy build intense pressure for action and raise the cost of human rights abuse. For 30 years, Human Rights Watch has worked tenaciously to lay the legal and moral groundwork for deep-rooted change and has fought to bring greater justice and security to people around the world.
You have indeed picked yourself an excellent source for the issue. A "Mass Ethnic Cleansing" involving 500,000 people 20 years ago and the only document you present is a one paragraph anonymous article from an independent organization?

Thanks for proving my point. Google more, perhaps you can come up with a better geocities article next time.

    - I'm not backpedaling at all. What Turkey has done to it's Kurdish population is terrorism.
A Military action against a group that's labeled as an ethnic secessionist organization that uses terrorism and the threat of force against both civilian and military targets for the purpose of achieving its political goal(which is, guess what, claiming lands of a current, official state!)? You are quite mislead by the information you have. Name me a single country that'll give away their lands to every organization claiming them.

You mention Human Rights Watch flippantly as an "independent organization." It's one of the major mainstream human rights groups.

The paragraph listed is a summary of the report.

In the most superficial sense it's still another perspective.

And Turkey doesn't? Are you fucking daffy? Read a fucking book. This isn't a debate as much as it's going to be a history lesson.
