Looking for a specific iPod

So, my girlfriend wants an iPod, but all they have in the stores are the new nanos, and the big classics, and the classic is too big, and she dislikes the new very slim and fragile looking nanos. Although I have tried, I'm having trouble finding any older nanos or anything in the 8-32gig range that isn't a touch. Can anybody help me?

Gen 2 black nano - 8gb, take a look around on Ebay for one. Might be able to find something refurbished on the apple store as well.

Don't think so, only the gen 3 + can I think. I would seriously suggest the iPod touch. It's an amazing piece of machinery and is quite a bit more useful than the regular iPods, and has pretty good life/size/weight. Only other suggestion I could make is to just get one of the classics really. I myself dislike the new nanos because they're pointy as fuck and seem prone to loss/crushings/ripped clothing.

I have a Touch 8GB and it's fuckin' fantastic - it's more like a mini-computer than a music player with the PDA functions, built-in wifi and browser/mail/apps.

BTW if you think a Classic is big (and it's really not It's about the size of a credit card) then you'll think the Touch is the size of a house!

Big was meant more as a comment on storage size rather than physical size. Thanks for the suggestions, and I'll keep looking.

Really don't get the Touch. 8GB is absolutely 0 space; I just upgraded from my old 30gb Ipod to a 120gb classic because I was out of space. Get a real Ipod (classic) and get yourself a decent smartphone.

I have an 80gig classic and I love it - had massive guilt pangs at the time I bought it over paying for a good mp3 player rather than just buying something cheapie - but I seriously don't regret buying it one iota. Have nowhere near filled it but it's nice having the space.

Not everyone wants to put 10000 songs on their ipod. From the sounds of it, the OP wants a smaller one (memory wise), and the touch fits that perfect. With the other features it comes with it's a great buy.
