This movie looks pretty awesome. Can't wait :D
Haven't seen Coraline or Corpse bride - I liked nightmare, and I must say this film looks rather impressive from a non-biased standpoint.
I really like the casting choices of the VA's. (Ticks off Sept. 9th on calendar)
saw a trailer for this about a year ago, but this updated look gives it a "Casshern" feel. not sure if i like it or not.
Why are you people using Coraline and Corpse Bride in the same sentence?
Coraline was not Tim Burton.
No, but it was directed by Henry Selick, who was also director of Nightmare Before Christmas, which is Tim's original work. It's bound to get a bit of the same flair, and it's a safe bet if you liked one, you'll like the other.
But Corpse Bride wasn't directed by Henry Selick.
Corpse Bride (2005)
Looks really cool. I'll definitely give it a shot:O.
Not a Tim Burton fan, fuckin hate Nightmare before Christmas and Corpse Bride, but this looks like it may not suck so much.
I watched the short film just now and WOW that's pretty good!
Let's try this again, I'll speak slower.
A) Henry Selick directed Nightmare Before Christmas, a project that was borne of Tim Burton. Do you question the influence Burton had on this film?
B) Tim Burton at least in part wrote and directed Corpse Bride. Henry Selick was not involved in any way, shape, or form with this movie, yet it comes off strikingly similar to its predecessor.
C) Henry Selick directed Coraline, which Tim Burton was not in any way directly involved with, yet again to the casual observer enlists associations of Tim Burton despite his lack of involvement.
D) 9 is being produced by Tim Burton, but does not involve Henry Selick. Nevertheless, there is a certain musing to the overtones being set by what we've seen so far that just scream the same style, and so we come full circle.
By virtue of point A and observation of the stylings of movie B, it's not hard to look at C and make the association between Selick and Burton, as they've adopted very similar styles. As a result of this, if you've seen and enjoyed any one of these movies, it's highly likely that you'll enjoy the others. They all carry a very similar air about them, have similar quirky character portrayals, and all tell equally fantastical-if-fictional stories.
Make sense now?

I saw this a long time ago and showed my friends, they all thought it looked cool too. I think I'll go see it when it comes out. It's really cool that the original story was done by some kid doing a project for a class and Burton was just like, "hey let's do this for real."
Your opinion, and that's fair; what I'm saying is that if you liked any of these films, the rest of them in the ensemble are very similar, you should check them out if you haven't. Obviously they're not exactly alike, so they may not appeal to you, but I like all of them for approximately the same reasons, and they all make me smile unexpectedly (a rarity for myself, I don't get excited even during hi-voltage action movies).
By the way, the only reason Coraline came up at all in this thread is because this trailer was shown pretty consistently for every Coraline showing I've heard of. Clearly there has to be some similarity if they're targeting 9 at the same audience...
Ok so saw 9 trailer here 9
Loved the music more than anything.
Went searching for it, found this YouTube - welcome home - coheed and cambria
Now the problem is, I like the music and flow but not the howler monkey screeching into it. Can anyone help me find the instrumental version used in the trailer please.
I suck at the google search thingy.
