So my friend had a chat with a GM,...

Because he was holding the PH on VE in dunes hoping some others would leave, he has never gotten in trouble persay with a GM ever.

I was wondering for those who might know more about it what they do to your account if your are caught doing something which the GM defined as griefing although he wasn't jailed or anything they said they flagged his account for this offense...

Alrighty here is the conversation (Player name hidden to protect the,... guilty...)
    http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...TalkWithGM.jpg

Well either case my friend is kinda bent out of shape about it and I thought about it and I have no experience here so I can't tell him if this is warning like getting a ticket or if his account will be banned if he as much as sneezes in the wrong direction...

All I think about this is the talk of someone who claimed cerb and the GM telling them earth staff doesn't do enough damage they need to kill it faster(to the tank) or they will be jailed for holding.

So anyone know someone who has gotten in trouble or someone who has experience with this matter able to give a little insight on this?

yeah it is considered griefing since you are trying to drive away other folks. W/e he said in say probably didn't help him either. That said, Najakan is my favorite GM. I fell through the bottom of sea once, called to get pulled back up and I see this pop on my screen:

[GM] Najakan>> Greetings White Mage Mattnumbers, am I correct in understanding you can't swim?

Well I don't think the GM did anything outside of their authority, I mean can you really be mad at a cop for pulling you over when your speeding? Ya shouldn't have been speeding...

I was more or less wondering what that flag on the account is exactly, is it a warning, something more serious and do they go away after a while?

Its just a warning. No action will be taken. However, now that hes been logged as having been warned, if he were to do that again, some sort of disciplinary action will most certainly be taken against him. No idea if the warning flag is deleted after a certain amount of time though.

Wish there was a way to find out.

Also are GM's as dumb as I remember them 2 years ago and completely not understand the mechanics of the game?

Your friend can find out by doing something else douchey.

But, you will find out that there is little consistency per reports here. There does not appear to be a formal: A) warning, B) 3day, C) banned. Depending on the next offense, how it is handled, how contrite the offender is, and who the GM is, the penalty may vary.

The best way to hold VE PH is to grab the PH, run to one of the caves far away, sub whm for auto regen (or wear auto regen gear) and attack another mob. You can't hold a yellow mob. They just have to come and find it.
(I did this once when I had been camping for 2+ hours solo and at the last minute this guy rolls up with 5 ppl and gets claim after being there 10 minutes and didn't get drop). So, next PH I got that they weren't looking, I took him pretty far out and attacked another mob so it would still be yellow, then i went to bed.

Thats the other thing I was wondering about, are GM's able to see all forms of your communication? I asked him he said he never said anything in /say just /ls and whatnot, the GM is just making a generalization.

They can see everything. I think there were some screenshots around showing they can even talk in your party/ls channels.

I had a friend a few years back and he would say some pretty offensive shit in shouts in jueno/whitegate. It was almost weekly he would do it and someone would always call a gm on him for it. He ended up in Gm jail often and always got a warning. Only once was he suspended for it. This brings me to believe it is entirely on the gm on the course of actions taken. They don't go by any past warning or anything.

Your friend basically admitted to grieving in chat so you should be telling him he's lucky to not get a suspension. Personally I gotta say holding PHs is a major asshole move, you're wasting many other people's time, this is a game not a place for you to get schadenfreude.

All actions taken against accounts are permanent. His warning probably applies to all other disciplinary actions as well. For instance if he gets caught botting now he has been warned once there for he will be suspended without any sort of notification. His warning will be on his account until he is banned or it is deleted. Next step is a 72hour suspension. I recommend if you ever get suspended you start storing all of your belongings on a different character. Gil, muled gear etc. After 72hours suspension is permanent ban. Good luck!

I called a GM not too long ago for griefing as well, by the time they got to me the problem was 'solved' by me leaving in which case he said there's nothing he could do. I did ask if he could write down his name or something so they could take that into consideration the next time he did something annoying. The GM said 'yes' and I was happy but also surprised. So I guess there is sort of a 'record' of reports against all players.

There's 4 Phs for VE iirc unless he was holding all of them I don't see how it's a huge issue.

I believe there is only one, which can be spotted via Wide Scan.

Negative, 1, Is there any mob in the game that has 4 PH's or even 3?
