Dick move. Your friend has no reason to be upset about this, he caused it. GM is doing what he should be doing to stop idiots like this. Your friend's responses are also quite ridiculous. "Is that so?" "How can we fix this?" Seriously dood?

Years ago some noob LS showed up to camp VE with a party of people, and proceeded to kill every mob on the beach (fish and crabs) in the process, ruining my party's xp. We asked them leave many times, and they made fun of us. I switched to BST and held the VE placeholder, and they GM'd me. Of course, I got in trouble.

Nothing else ever came of it because I'm not normally a dick, and I don't cheat. If my account has permanent warning it really doesn't make a difference, because I'm unlikely to ever run into a GM again. Just make sure you're friend doesn't cheat or act like an asshole in the future, and I'm sure he'll be fine.

What Virtue says is an extremely good point. If your friend has been playing for a long time and has never been contacted by a GM in the past, get over it. It shows that he at least has some scruples and aside from this circumstance, most likely plays the game in a non-dickhead manner.

Yes, imo best one was when a GM spoke on an ls channel and the ls leader responded by telling the GM to come BLM to w/e HNM the situation was about.

There's still people that cause drama over VE? Really?

Like others have said, the flag is probably there permanently and he's lucky that was all he got.

LL has two PH's last I checked.

I would have charmed the VE PH and started farming with it.

Plus, technically, since it only pops every 2 hours, as long as you don't have the PH for more than 1:55, you aren't preventing dick.

Me, I like to take the PH for a stroll out into the ocean using the terrain glitch at the beach.

I actually got empress pin that way... and if you pull it far enough away, it would take a bored ranger to scan you in a random ass part of the map.

VE can repop at 30 minutes after ToD, but it's usually around 1-2 hrs. And yes there is only one placeholder, it's the top fly in the group of four between snippers and leeches. And how exactly would you get a hairpin that way? By being a giant faggot and griefing everyone until they left?

    1) LL has two possible placeholder mobs on widescan but only one or the other is actually his ph, I've seen LL up with the other mob present

    2) Pretty sure charmed ph is still griefing unless you're at a reasonable exp level for those mobs, otherwise you'd probably be using a jug by logical process

    3) Lottery NMs don't pop like clockwork, I've killed ph for VE and Mee Deggi for longer than their NM respawn duration and not seen it (and had a squad out for VE, so either it was popped and killed in exactly the 1.5 sec it takes to exit /map and rescan or it didn't actually pop ever)

    4) People who fuck with NM spawns, especially R/E ones, are dicks of the lowest kind

    That is all

And @ op your friend got off lucky. I bet he's one of those types who gets pissed when the cops pull him over for doing 80 in a 40 too.

I've never seen VE pop sooner than 2 hours, ever, camped it for others several times, killed personally for myself 4 times.

The last time, had the competition go from 1~2, to 10+ people, so I went to /Bst, determined the Ph after VE died, and dragged it into the ocean.

I'm going to have to go with personal experience that, even with friends covering the entire area with widescan, tracking, and killing every PH pop within seconds of said pop, and never seeing less than a 2 hour pop... he's a 2 hour + NM.

Maybe it's been changed, it WAS nearly 3 and a half years ago.

Either way, you think holding a PH so you can track it is grief?

What about fucktards who deliberately kill not only every single fly, but also kill the marker crabs and leeches which you normally use to track the PH, reducing it from camping to scrambling around trying to claim all the flies so you can tell which one is the PH before he is gonna pop.

VE has always been able to pop at well under 2hrs, from back when his drop was sellable to now. I just camped it on an alt this week and it popped around the 1hr mark several times. And no, I don't see how killing the normal mobs and preventing you from timing placeholder/VE spawn times with widescan is griefing.

    Ok, let me clarify.

They noticed that we were widescanning when we kept getting the PH within a second or so of it's pop.

THEN they started killing everything in a 4 map grid area so NOTHING would show on scan, you had to go from camping efficiently to hoping it would pop.

Perhaps I was just unlucky with him though, maybe the times I've camped, he popped before the 2 hour mark and someone happened to 1 shot him before myself or anyone with me could scan him... but I don't feel the slightest bit bad about holding the PH so I could track when it would repop, and sure enough, 5 minutes after I killed that PH, he popped, and I got my pin.

Its makes him take longer to pop, same reason why people who kill every fly don't see him for 4+ hours but people killing only the PH see him after 90 minutes ect.

Killing the others will grief the person camping it, so will charming the PH in an attempt to look like your XP'ing there but both can't be proven unless you say your doing it.

Well I guess my friend got what he deserves for being a douch, although he says they started it, I doubt it >.>

Evidence of this where? I really doubt killing non-placeholder mobs does anything for lottery NMs. People camping without widescan are just more likely to take a longer time finding/killing the actual placeholder, and in the case of valkurm emperor, there's a pretty good chance they'll miss the placeholder entirely for long periods of time, given the huge spawn area.

I just camped VE a bunch this past week, around 7-9 claims myself, with me killing pretty much everything in the area for treasure caskets on top of timing PH death/spawn, and average VE pop time was still around 90 minutes.

I've camped him with widescan every time, the four times which were SPECIFICALLY for me, were a Thf67/Rng33 (he popped the Ph before my drop for 1337 with a slug shot, much laughter) Whm67/Rng1, and me on like War71/Bst35.

Between us, we could cover every fly, and actually needed the crabs/leeches because our scans covered too many flies to narrow it down without them.

I wouldn't doubt that he can pop in under 2 hours, I only have 10~12 VE kills myself, but I know that after 2 hours he pops for sure.

People always say killing everything makes the NM take longer to pop, but I agree it's nonsense. I hear it all the time with Mee Deggi and Quu Domi but after spending a week in Oztroja with those cheap bastards, I never noticed a difference in their respawn time with killing everything or just killing the placeholder.

I will definitely say it doesn't affect anything.

It's just irritating when you are camping and have things set up nicely so you can tell where and when he will pop, and then someone comes and fucks everything up by zerging shit.

Then you tell them "if you do that, it makes it take longer" to make them stop hopefully.

Bear with me here. I started camping Mee Deggi the Punisher and Quu Domi the Gallant back when I restarted leveling Samurai. I camped Quu Domi for a few days, everything I have ever read quoted his spawn time as being sixty minutes. Now for the multiple days I had camped and killed him he spawned every hour, regardless of killing the placeholders(I was literally killing everything in the entire square.)

So I don't really understand why some folks claim that killing the placeholders makes it take longer for the NM to spawn. I've never once seen proof of it in game aside from other people's comments. The funny thing is the day I ended up getting the Kyahan some douchebag was literally yelling at me in tells because I was killing everything in the area. Sure enough the 60 minute mark hit and here came Quu Domi.

Not posting this to start an argument etc, I just want to know where it's been established as proof killing the placeholder lengthens the spawn timer for the actual NM.

Edit* Read Max's post after I posted.
