Connection issues during login

Alright, on-and-off I'm having issues connecting to FFXI. I get through POL fine, but ince I get to the FFXI portion of the login screen it will hang on the server connection portion and eventually just time out.

The weird part is that my internet connection is fine up to that point, then goes out completely during that time (downloads, torrents, firefox etc all don't work even if they were fine before) even though I maintain connection to the wireless router (and the modem as well from a ping check). And after the timeout message occurs and I close the screen, its fine again. I use cFosSpeed, and it shows internet activity up to the ffxi screen, and after the timeout, but almost all internet activity stops during the login attempt, with the occasional blip of traffic. Maybe 1 login in 10 as of late has been successful. But once I'm in, I'm fine.

Any ideas? I use Comcast, but their docsis 3.0 has yet to be rolled out or even started in my area. I've tried closing almost all programs running on my comp with no luck.

Same thing happening to my 360. Pretty good connection usually, too. I'll get into POL, and it will slowly load friends list/messages and all that. Slowly (and if I don't get timed out), I can get to the FFXI screen. Then when I click accept, it will time me out. If not, when I get to the character selection screen and choose a character, it might kick me off again.
Happened like 10x today. Sucked.

This is happening to me right now also.. My connection is 100% fine *I use MSN to know if I am connected or not and I'm all the way connected while FFXI is having an error.*

Takes a long time to load FL/Messages/Handle List/Content ID, after all that will take another 5 mins to load the main POL page, that or it'll just kick me off all over again.

When on FFXI screen, clicked on play, accept... it will time out always @ "Connecting to lobby server" then will give me an FFXI Error #3100 (Could not connect to lobby server)

This sucks for a New Year

about the same thing happening to me right now..

can get pass the version checking, keep giving me Network is busy error.. POL-1160 if thats help /sigh

these are not the same as my problem. My problem involves the internet connection stopping completely for ALL programs, not just ffxi, and ONLY occurs when I am at the ffxi login page. Once I reach the character page (when you start to see the landscapes) I'm fine again. Your problems are general connection issues. Please use different threads for help, as your problem is more than likely not the same cause as mine. (May just be general holiday overloading of servers, mine's been happening off and on for more than two months).
