Straight Elemental resist vs. MDB

My ls's first znm t4 cerberus fight is coming up and i want my tanks to be prepared to eat some firaga's and goh's. Ive been looking alot into fire resist builds and mdb builds. Mainly for plds since our ls doesnt have very many ninjas. Now i found a pretty decent fire build set up including

Mach +1/Numinous shield/lamian kaman
green ribbon/burburimu gorget/rubyearring/rubyearring
republic harness/tarasque mitts/malflame ring/ruby ring
cerberus mantle/water belt/crimson cuisses/power sandals

This is the stuff i plan on using, but my question is, with the new iron ram gear out would that be better off using in the head/hands/feet slots? I know you dont get quite as much fire resist from it but would the added mdb be worth swapping out and losing a little fire resistance?

I'm not really sure about the whole teir rating on the resistant builds so im not sure if swapping out like 10more fire resistance for some mdb would kill the teir rating on the resist build. If you have any suggestions or any info on this it would be more than welcome. I did a search but couldnt find much info on it. If its right in front of my face just delete it. Thanks in advance

Stick with fire resist on cerb. You wont eat more than 20 per ga\am2 and you'll end up flat out resisting the burn effect of goh

Resist sets are generally a lot more effective than MDB assuming you have the right gear and buffs.

Ear: Triumph and/or Ruby's
Body: Assault Breastplate (Easily the best piece of the fire set)

Rings: malflame + Ruby / Triumph
Back: Cerb Mantle
Waist: Water Belt
Legs: W.legs
Feet: IR

The above is what I use, and from sig you can tell its pretty good. The aim should be 300+ with carol + bar + equip...for results like in sig (but yes, rampart was on for that =P)

Recent magic acc testing indicates that to get the sexy 1/8 resists (wyrm breath hitting for ~20) consistently you need to make your resist roll 3 times in a row, which means you really want to cap out your resistance vs the mob's magic acc as much as possible. If you have an 80% resist rate, that means you'll get 1/8 resists 0.8*0.8*0.8=51% of the time.

Magic damage mitigation is a case where either you want to go all-in on resistance or don't bother with it and just gear for -MDT and MDB.

MDB is also a valid choice for stuff that can one-shot you if you get unlucky with the resist (Gigaflare, if anyone still tanks BHv2; not thinking of anything else atm besides Citadel Buster which you can't use resist build for anyway).

I don't think its been mentioned, but I use MDB/MDT gear on JoL due to the fact that I think it is actually physically impossible to keep all of the resist sets in your inventory at the same time, just macro it in when he starts casting and macro it out when he's done.
