POL Server Problems?

Just lost it again, right at the start of event.

brought me all the way back to main POL log in and won't get past Checking PlayOnline version. So fucking stupid.

Ppl in atleast sweden, denmark, germany, england, usa, canada and australia has the same problem, so doubt it's my ISP..<.<

How can you be so sure though? They can always have an issue connecting out of the country. Most of the time this started happening, there was an issue with a major backbone..which caused people to not connect to POL, or unable to stay connected..Not to mention wasn't there a few big earthquakes recently?

Seriously though, the recent earthquakes likely messed up a backbone.

Took me a while to get in, but I've stayed connected for like 1-2hr now. Game is laggy, but that might just be my PC (it probably is but I'm afraid to restart )

If that's the problem, it's not my ISP as I said..

But I belive it's something at SE, as there is only problems when you are logged on (my mule in attowah chasm atm with no problem). If you get past all the POL crap without errors you can play aswell, there is just certain zones that makes you DC. For me it has been Dragon's Aery, Maze of Shakamri and Dynamis-Tavnazia.

Many people like to blame SE since the software has very little tolerance for network issues. I lost count of the number of times where POL/FF would give the "There is not internetz" message when other applications (web browser, vent, messengers, etc) were still fully functioning

Well there's a handful of people in our LS all using different ISP's, all in different countries and all experiencing identical problems. Every aspect of my internet, as well as the other people's internet, works perfectly. It's just POL/FFXI I'm having problems with. Nothing else including other online games gives me any sort of issue.

Couple that with the fact that a handful of people on BG and other FFXI communities are all having the same problem with no common denominator other than FFXI/POL then I'm inclined to believe might just be an issue with SE and not us.

Sure it might not be their fault, as in it might be uncontrollable, but it would be nice for a change if they held their hand up and said 'Yeah, we're having issues with blah blah. We're aware of it and working on it' instead of them either saying nothing or fobbing us off with the usual 'There are no issues on our end. It's not us, it must be you.' which is what they are currently telling people via livechat/phone.

I'm more pissed off because it has just absolutely shat all over our Dyna-Tav run.

Well think for a second..if only that; If there's people who can play perfectly fine..don't you think that would mean it isn't SE at fault? If it was SE's servers wouldn't everyone be kicked out of the game unable to connect? Your net could work perfectly fine..and not connect to POL..if there's a backbone issue, that can cause connection issues.

So instead of people eliminating other possibilities..they go straight for SE? Whenever there was moderate-big earthquakes in the pacific there was usually a backbone getting damaged or had to be replaced which caused people issues connecting to Japanese services.

Sure, SE could be having server issues, but doesn't anyone find it at all weird it started popping up AFTER those earthquakes?

Well there's people on the same ISP and living in the same area as me who are having no problems. Plus, I can log in other POL ID's from my computer with no issues, just not my main. So yeah, I'm gonna stick with it being an SE problem probably related to certain accounts.

EDIT: Not sure if other people are able to log in other accounts too as someone else I asked couldn't.

I remember when something like his happened before. Someone posted some sort of VPN ip Program that worked around this issue. Unable to find it on google.
