Update:

Went to a clinic, saw a doctor, got fondled and got an all purpose antibiotic that treats UTIs...and chlamydia...and syphilis. So if if something is in fact infected down there hopefully it'll be cleared up anyway. He said that my urine looked good but he was going to send it away to a lab to have it cultured. I would have almost been relieved to have just gotten diagnosed and out the door with a prescription to get it all over with. He said that it could be a result of the rounds my dick weathered in the ring of life and that I should call in a week to make sure that everything had cleared up.

My advice get health insurance if you don't. If you are a student though and your parents have a family plan etc you should be covered up to either 26 or 29 I can't remember which I know it was recently changed and raised.

If you get health insurance I'd suggest Blue Cross Blue Shield it's one of the better ones that takes care of you with the right plans.

I'll dumb it down for you theres HMO and PPO

HMO they give you a list of doctors PPO you can go any doctor

With HMO you can go to an ER if it's out of region 30 mile clause and all your responsible is for the co pay applies for diagnostic (Cat scans, blood work, stool cultures, urine cultures, any labwork or tests). With PPO you can do same but some times theres a % balance depends on plan.

HMO you need referrals from your primary care provider for specialists and such

PPO you don't need referrals but you have a higher Co-pay

How long ago was it changed? I got dropped off my parents plan for graduating December 07' but I would have still been dropped off in April when I hit 24. If that changed that's good for college folks (mainly grad level, most undergrad are out before 24).

The jury's still out on this in the medical community. Cranberry juice, and I mean the bitter undiluted stuff, works best as a preventative measure but it's pretty much useless in treating acute symptoms. The effectiveness of cranberry extract seems to be pretty debated as well, as to if the extract can increase the pH level in the urinary system enough to combat bacteria.

However, if someone is prone to getting UTIs it's worth the money to reduce the risk of infection. There's certainly no harm in taking cranberry supplements, and the juice has all sorts of other beneficial properties. At least this is the kind of advice a urologist and doctor at our sexual health clinic gave my girlfriend.
