considering in a store it'd be over $100.00 for a similar length?

monoprice.com and bluejeanscable.com are pretty pwn for cabling needs (the latter for higher quality but still very well priced cables).

I have a side business and all I do is resell cables from monoprice. The company I work for sells Low Voltage & Communication Cable, for my customer that want HDMI or other cable my company doesn't manufacture... I just sell them cable from Monoprice.

Good way to to make spare cash. I sell the $6 HDMI cables for $18 + Shipping. I'm making money and the customer thinks they are getting a deal lol.

Looking to buy the wire some time tomorrow hopfully so i can run the stuff verry soon but i really have no idea what to buy thinking either

For only $48.40 each when QTY 50+ purchased - Cat5e UTP Solid, Riser Rated (CMR), 350MHz 24AWG 1000FT Bulk Cable - Blue | Cat5e UTP Solid Cable

For only $58.86 each when QTY 50+ purchased - BAFO Cat5e UTP Stranded, General In-Wall Rated (CMG), 350MHz 1000FT Bulk 24AWG Cable - Blue (on Plastic Spool) | Cat5e UTP Stranded Cable

looking to make 2 200ft runs across the outside of the house. I don't think i could snake it through the house the way things are set up. And is there anything else i would really need besides the connectors?

    and sorry for the bump

The topmost of the two links is a higher quality sleeve and the cable is more easily dispensed from that box than it is a spool; the bottom link costs more because its stranded core, which makes it more resilient against breakage due to flex stress, but that's a nonissue for a permanent installation that shouldn't receive any tampering. For your described use I would buy the top one.

You'll need the naked RJ45 boots and a crimper to apply them with, and a pair of scissors or a decent utility knife to strip the sleeve back to slide the boot on.

Don't fuck with stranded Cat5. Stranded cat 5 is used for patch cords, not longer runs.

I'm not sure what Norellicus meant by "sleeve". If he means the cable jacket, they are both identical PVC Jackets. The UL rating CMR is for commercial applications, CMX is fine for home installs. It is just some extra chemicals they put in the jacket compound, doesn't make it any more durable or flexible. The chemicals affect the burn rating test results of the cable.

The bottom cable just has stranded conductors.

When you pull that shit out of the box pull it slowly too. The boxes are nice, but the cable will kink like crazy and knot up if you pull it too fast. Those boxes also get the shit beat out of them by UPS lol. I'm not sure how monoprice packages there stuff, if it comes inside of another box you'll be ok.

We had to switch over to different boxes b/c our customers were pissed the cable kept kinking up inside the boxes when their installers were pulling it.

/shrug, I've used everything from CM to CMP and I notice a definite durability/quality difference the higher up the chain I go; the only reason I don't use CMP everywhere is because of the prohibitive cost difference lol.

Maybe it was just a difference in manufacturers, I'm not sure. I know the ratings are just related to fire safety.

Yeah the difference in manufacturers is what you're seeing.

CM is your base rating. Commercially you can run it from room to room on a single floor. You aren't allowed to run it anywhere near duct work (drop ceiling). You also can't run it from 1 floor to another.

CMP is required for use in commercial applications in mostly horizontal installs, most commonly in conjunction with drop ceilings. The jacket compound is a low smoke material. Meaning if the building catches fire and the wire burns, you aren't going to be poisoned by the fumes that will inevitably get sucked into the buildings air conditioning ducts.

CMR you can use vertically between floors commercially. This is because it has a more stringent flame rating than CM rated cable. It isn't low smoke though, so you still can't install this one near duct work either.

As far as residential install goes.... there are no codes to my knowledge governing what ratings you must use. That could vary by state though. My company doesn't bother with making CM rated cable any more. There isn't a big price difference between that and CMR, so we just manufacture the CMR and CMP stuff.

That most be some old over stocked CAT5 lol. Good deal though, not like the shit goes bad.

When my company imports it we pay in the mid to upper $30's for it. China won't even deal with you direct unless you order 2 Million FT at a clip (1 container load). We own two plants over there.

I know this is a necro sorry, but figured better than making a new post.

I previously bought a couple of these and they're great
For only $5.07 each when QTY 50+ purchased - HDMI 1.3a CL2 Rated (In-Wall Installation) Cable (24AWG) w/ Net Jacket - 3ft (Gold Plated Connectors) | Premium 24AWG HDMI 1.3a Male to Male Cables

However, it's pretty short only being a 3 footer. I tried searching myself but I really have no clue what I'm looking for, is there an equivalent of this cord in a 5-10 ft version on monoprice?

    Thanks in advance

Yeah, I've used them for all my cable needs. Entertainment center, networking, computer cables. It's an awesome site, can't beat the prices and the quality is great.

If you look at the bottom of the product page you'll see a section called Related Products. There is a 6' and a 10' version in the list.
