PLD PLD RDM WHM COR BRD

BLM BLM BLM BLM BLM COR

WAR DRK THF SAM BRD WHM

approx jobs I would use, based on your alliance. If you didnt need the plds, for like a city namis, change the tank pt into a melee pt and go from there.

    1. RNG WHM SAM (me)
    2. PLD WAR MNK (friend)
    3. DRK RDM (friend)
    4. COR (friend)
    5. BRD RDM
    6. BRD PLD
    7. BRD THF
    8. BLM RNG
    9. BLM WHM
    10. BLM COR
    11. BLM MNK
    12. BLM SAM
    13. WHM SCH
    14. WAR RNG
    15. DRK
    16. DRK DRG
    17. SAM DRG
    18. SAM THF

adjusted your list to remove some of the jobs that people have that would make it viable for most setups. NIN isnt as good a tank as PLD, no debate on that. SMN is not useful unless its a case specific event that benefits from SMN only attacks (tia comes to mind, but I wouldnt do tia with these 18). This would be a fine setup for double limbus runs or easily taking all the dynamis zones save for minor tanking issues in xarc on the NMs. Otherwise its a decent squad, but as you said, provided they all get on at once.

Also this. Having 18 pompous dicks who want nothing more than to come on whatever job they want to play and not on the job that best benefits the entire group is a waste of time. Having 18 good players who will play their job as assigned to the best of their ability and the best of the alliances ability so everybody gets their shit will make for a much happier linkshell.

Maybe it's a Chigoe, maybe it's a Wyrm, maybe it's a Crab, who cares. The point is that you'd have to go in and not be prepared for a specific enemy, and that's what made me think of the OP. So, you'd go in with a setup that's likely to win anything, whether it's a Chigoe NM, Crab NM, or Wyrm NM. This is what I want this alliance to be; a group that can win anything with little or minimal changes.

yep, thats ein, gotta balance it out with even light based sleepers who arent bards, youll get wrecked way too fast and lose your buffs. We started taking a completely different alliance setup to ein a while back and it increased our success ratio by an incredible amount

Agree. It doesn't matter what jobs you have -- so long as the people behind them are competent.

In fact, his response was the first I extremely thought was useful.

Then teach them. Look at all the other responses before his -- Shitty joke remarks.

Fuck it if they are new, what jobs they have -- He's saying they need to be good. Just because they are new doesn't mean they aren't good or can't be taught.

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

And Kuno's right, having competent people is usually going to make any alliance work, rather than having certain jobs.

Even if they don't know absolutely everything about the game, which obviously newer people won't, it's far more important (in general) that they have the capacity and willingness to learn. This is sadly lacking in huge swathes of the population.

Even if they don't really learn that well, sometimes it works okay if they at least do exactly what you tell them, depending on the job. For anything remotely more complicated than meriting, like say Proto-Ultima, we go over everything before every fight. Some people can perform okay, but their retention rate is wretched.

Obviously, some job combinations do make some situations easier. If you manage to get a core group of learners with some job diversity, you can go far. I'm usually coming to events as BRD or COR, but situations have arisen for each of my other jobs where they were the best thing to bring, based on who else we had that night and what we were doing. Well okay...not DNC, but give it time.
