You have to remember that for hot boxing to be hot boxing it has to be-- dun dun dun-- hot.

Not that it won't work without it being hot or anything, but the heat is what sets it over the top.

In my dorm at K-State there were 2 of us that were major potheads that just happened to have black mustangs. (read: pretty much saunas before you even add in the body heat and smoke)

We'd load up either one with 4-5 people, light a blunt or 2, turn off the AC out in the hot Kansas sun, and hooooooly fuck. When none of the girls came with us it had to look like the gayest shit ever when 4-5 guys would pile out of tiny car with our shirts off all sweaty as fuck, but wow did we ever get fucked up.

I just read this thread. Half-3/4 of the posters have never smoked or tried it once. And Charismatic is a flaming faggot of epic proportions.

What about cell phones? Are we going to make them illegal because someone may use one while driving?
It was a loaded question. Just like pot, advocates seemingly ignore the flaws of recreational use while toting the importance of medicinal applications. In alcohol's case, we get sterilization, and in more crude times, it was a painkiller with enough consumption. You only need to visit a local frat house to see what recreational stupidity is gleaned from irresponsible use.

I've had the debate before. Suggest alcohol should be harder to get and you suddenly get a swathe of drinkers descending upon your ass doing everything they can to make you look like an idiot while patting each other on the back. It doesn't matter people have died choking on their own vomit, homes have been broken by daddy beating mommy in a fit of drunken rage, and so on. I'm just on a soap box with the world's smallest violin threatening to ruin their short-term fun. Replace booze with pot, same story.

Basically, it boils down to either being in the right hands. While my faith in humanity isn't too hot, some advocates paint themselves a bit too responsible, or those so-called right hands. Shit happens whether or not we plan for it, and lord knows I've dealt with my share of those who weren't the right hands, but thought nothing would ever happen to them.

We can live without booze. We can live without smoking pot. If you can't? Well, I doubt you give a shit about my sympathy, anyway. I'm just the spoilsport. Nonetheless, incoming string of luxuries we can live without while totally missing the point of why I'm against these, I'm sure.

If the law says it's illegal then fuck the medicinal properties that have been used throughout the history of the human race! IF THE LAW SAYS IT'S BAD THEN IT'S BAD!

Nope. If you replace booze with pot you don't have that same story at all. Tell me, how many people have choked on their own vomit and died after smoking pot? How many people come home in a blazed rage and beat their wife? None, they're too busy eating chips on the couch. You obviously don't have much experience with potheads.

Sure, everyone can live without booze or pot. Personally, I don't drink much and I don't smoke pot at all, but who the fuck am I to deny that right to someone else. I'm not their mom, I'm not their parole officer, I'm not their boss. You and I don't have the right to tell other people how to live their lives. Let alone force some people to live out their lives in pain because we're on some moral high horse and won't allow them to have an effective pain reliever.

Granted, the specific examples don't translate flawlessly, but with how both readily alter brain chemistry, being a lazy lump on the couch can be as bad or worse than starting a drunken brawl when it comes to shirking responsibility. That is something I've had to deal with from others, at work and on my own time (regrettably from a family member recently).

Somehow I doubt the people here defending pot are doing so because they use it for medicinal purposes. Instead, we get talk of how to get baked with vaporizers or how to know your weed's bad. I guess I should be glad Kohan threw some material at me for a change, but it doesn't make smoking the stuff any less intrusive for those who don't want near it or don't want to deal with the stoners and their skunk smell in public afterward.

Man, you must assume people who smoke weed are all exactly like the characters in movies like Harold & Kumar and Half Baked. :<

Most people in this society are raised to believe certain things, such as nudity should be covered even though we're born naked, and any illegal drug is the work of satan and should be a punishable offense to partake of. I was also brainwashed this way, but because I've been conditioned to think of marijuana as an illegal substance I've been struggling to overcome my bias.

I'm not a fan of people chemically altering their bodies or state of mind myself, but I am also for the legalization of marijuana, not only for the medicinal value but because I believe it to be worlds better than cigarettes as far as health goes. I'm confused as to how something people the world over smoke can be considered so horrible, it must be minds that judge by bias that trend that way. And no, I've never smoked anything in my life and don't really want to, just secondhand smoke or even candle smoke irritates me really bad, I think I'm allergic.

There are a multitude of other differences, however, which is why associating alcoholism and marijuana usage is flawed. It has been stated that marijuana users don't die from consuming their drug, and that is true. Though you focused on the laziness aspect, your stating that alcoholics have died from abusing the drink was defeated -- marijuana users can't overdose. It is literally impossible, as they'll fall asleep before that could ever hope to happen.

Additionally, although marijuana slows the body's functions, the means by which it does so don't alter the brain's chemistry identically, or even on the same level. Interestingly, people still argue that alcohol kills brain cells, but it doesn't -- what it does is inhibits or altogether prevents the formation of memories, depending upon how much has been consumed. While marijuana is also capable of doing this, it's on a much smaller scale, and if the strain the user is smoking is a mixture of sativa and indica (they all are at least somewhat, really), it probably won't happen at all. If they're using indica, it's very doubtful indeed that any short term memory loss will ever occur.

Furthermore, marijuana does not kill people. Unlike alcohol, which will can cause stomach ulcers, destruction of the liver, a blood sugar imbalance, and countless other problems, marijuana doesn't permanently harm the user. Excessive and careless chronic smoking may beat up their throat a bit, but even that won't harm them on a level even close to that of a cigarette/tobacco smoker.

Another point that defeats yet another part of your argument concerns whether someone is actually out in public and stoned enough to endanger the lives of others. Do you know why you never hear of this happening (unless other drugs are involved, which is the fault of the user, not marijuana itself)? Because if someone actually consumes enough marijuana to be stoned out of their mind, they are not going to leave the house. They will effectively be locked to their couches, enjoying their own personal euphoria either by themselves or with nearby friends, and when the effects of THC wear off -- which they most certainly do within a short matter of hours -- they'll go home. Or fall asleep, whichever happens first.

Anyone who smokes an excessive amount of marijuana on the go likely does countless other irresponsible things as well, and is likely going to smash your car in whether they just smoked a joint, downed a 40, or are completely sober and just don't give a shit about stop signs. You are painting marijuana users as a threat to society when they are in fact the most harmless substance users in existence, and you have absolutely no proof because the terrible scenario you're painting doesn't exist, and didn't before marijuana was unfairly illegalized.

If you believe legalizing it will make things worse, consider all of the things it will end or at least reduce: dealing imported drugs, filling prisons with harmless drug offenders (users, not the dealers) who usually get worse prison sentences than rapists and people guilty of manslaughter, the constant and excessive prescription of pharmaceuticals that physically alter the body for the far, far worse...

You have no real argument. The only thing you can truly say is that you've seen someone become lazy as a result of using it, but that isn't the fault of the marijuana itself, since as aforementioned, it has no addictive chemicals in its composition. If they didn't have a joint to smoke, they'd probably still be sitting on their ass.

And about that smell thing, the extremely vast majority of people who use weed recreationally aren't the smelly stoners you're mentioning. Most may smoke a few bowls a day, with or without friends, and then they relax a while, get up and go to work, smelling sweet as a summer's day. You're none the wiser, although you could be if you'd stop insisting that every smoker smells like a skunk and would open your eyes to reality.
