Economic collapse predicating fragmentation of the nation wouldn't be impossible, but I'm doubting said fragments would ally themselves directly with another nation. Hell, National Guard units -alone- could take on most attempts to annex their states into something else. Or resist federal attempts to retake a group of states who seceded. If the US can't pay it's armed forces, are they really going to be gung-ho about rolling into their own homes and shooting? That's how bad it'd have to get for the US to go to pieces.
But seeing the USA plunge deeply enough into financial crisis that regions go "fuck this, the nation is bankrupt- we're going our own way"? Yes, possible. Very, very possible. We made the Soviet Union overextend itself so badly it fragmented. The last eight years has done a very good job of shoving us even further the same direction.
Texas would never become part of Mexico. It would become its own state. Russian guy knows nothing about Texans.
That's because the idiots were stupid enough to get in a arms race with us. They also were fucked six ways from Sunday with all the damage they had done during their nuke build up. The USA if it comes down to it has billons, if not trillions of dollars of natural resources it can make use of, we just refuse to, due to tree huggers and idiot tourists who piss themselves in fear at the idea of having to see a oil platform off of the coast. Sure bringing all of this stuff to the fore would be rough, but hey, we've done tougher projects.
As for Mexico taking ANYTHING, you think for a moment MS13 and the other various gangs running wild down there are going to let Mexico screw with it's customer base? We don't have to lift a finger, the various gangs would kill any troublesome Mexicans before they even got across the border.
Last for the Alamo, you forget that the 250 folks who bit it resulted in alerting the common joe of what was going on, which led directly into the Battle of San Jacinto which was a 18 min asskicking of epic levels as Mexican troops were not only mowed down, but some even screamed they had nothing to do with the Alamo as US troops, shot, stabbed and some cases, sodomized them with great relish. The worst thing you can do is piss off the common joe in the street, white, black, doesn't matter.
Yeah uh the reason it was 18min was cause we got lucky and caught Santa Anna w/ only part of his army while they were eatting lunch. What common joe in the street are you fucking talking about? Most if not all Texans/Tejanos were already up in arms over Mexico, the United States did not want to involve itself officially, and the reason why reinforcements never came to the Alamo was because they were busy protecting the Goliad (which was the more integral fort defensively) and the Constitutional Convention. The whole notion about remember the Alamo is against propaganda we were all taught in schools, in the grand scheme of things the battle was largely meaningless.
You think the USSR didn't have trillions of dollars of natural resources under their control? Russia was and still is the largest country in the world. I love the fucking blindness on your part, you think we are any less outstretched right now than the Soviets were 20 years ago? Most of our generals agree that either we are already at the brink of our military capabilities or we will be if we engage/are engaged in 1 more conflict. Also lol @ the tree huggers/tourists thing, the only reason to drill for oil off our coasts was to alleviate the price of oil while we start weaning ourselves off foreign oil. The international economic collapse has essentially made that pointless since oil is gonna be costing us peanuts the next ~2 years, at which point we will already be on the road towards independence from foreign oil and by the time we would develop the infrastructure to start drilling in the gulf/off the coast of CA we wouldn't need to.
