Do I have to go through the 3 maps etc to get to him? Or is that #3 spot in La theine plateau open so I dont.

pretty sure you go through like 3 maps and drop down a hole. it's been quite awhile but ya it's a pain in the ass even with +12% movement or the occasional flee

Yes u have to walk through Ordelle's Cave's 3 maps, it's not hard really, just alot of invisible steps and corners on the steps sometimes. Very pretty place, back in the day used to be hordes of RMTs who camped Stropper Chymes for Archers Rings.

I remember when I was new and levelling MNK/WAR as my first job. I quested Purple belt and was amazed that I killed 2x NMs to get it. Then I read that I had to kill 3x NMs to get brown belt and one for them was a 21-24 hour pop. I was like... wtf?! Once per day only??

just go to ffxi-atlas or wiki or something like that. they'll show you maps and where it pops.

I remember camping this thing... 1st day I missed claim cause I was on the wrong macro page.. the next night it popped 1second before its window closed, and it was like 3am in the morning.

I dreaded camping this when i was levelling MNK but a LS member found it up unclaimed one day so i rushed there and killed it lol, doesn't really take long to get there either

If you can, do the KSNM. The drop rate for the vine is *INCREDIBLY* high (75%+).

Unfortunately, the KSNM strategy only seems to be a SMN burn... but if you know nice SMNs.. >.>

If you are new to camping long spawn time NMs like this, then this could help you. Basically go afk in the pop area over night or at work. Have all your filters off so that you see everything in your chatlog. If you are using Windower on PC then Timestamp is your friend. If not then you can get a good idea of which hour the NM was killed in by counting back the number of "Conquest Updates" that appear in your log every hour (on the hour).

I know it's a three hour window but it's not like Fafnir etc. I believe Morbolger can pop any time in those three hours. I only camped it three times before my little team got claim.

It aggros even if you're 75 so use some caution.

I'd also recommend the KSNM unless someone passes you an uncontested TOD. I solo it as RDM and the drop rate is high.

afk'd there last night and got ToD. Person who killed said no one was around so I am the only 1 with. Thing is I have work tomorrow..... during window....

I went 1/7 on Nue. That can be a twat. I went 1/1 on Dodo though too. Seems Morbolger isn't anywhere near as highly camped as it was back in the day. Pop area used to be crowded as hell. Kinda lol'ed at the comment someone posted about Morbolger aggroing 75s. I'm pretty sure it does but when I did it this would never have been a problem.

According to FFXIclopedia it's 1-5 hours yeah. I think I just killed each of the tigers and waited/hoped. A few times I had some competition but not too much tbh. Once had it claimed from under my nose by some JP running thru to Pso'Xa but they were nice enough to actually relinquish claim when they realised I was camping.

I just fondly remember this quest as being the first achievement I was proud of in the game.
