have you tried in-ear headphones?

They actually protect hearing 30-40db isolation lets you use much lower volumes.

I use cheap sony fontopia's at work since I don't want expensive headphones to get snagged but they are awesome compared to earbuds (even compared to cheap normal headphones).

I'd like to give some ER 4p's a try and compare them but those I'd feel really bad about loosing to theft
