chocobo abilities

I've been raising a chocobo for a while now and I'm trying to teach it gallop(already knew canter). Everywhere I've looked says you need a bit deficient Discernment which my chocobo has.

I've been spamming stories for 4 or 5 days now using two chocolixers each day and I'm not getting anything. My chocobo is on day 74. Can chocobo's still learn abilities after the 64 cutoff and if they can how can i make it easier to learn short of leveling discernment more?

I know they can learn new traits up until the last day (taught once my husband's chocobo Treasure finder at like day 100 or 110 because he had completely slacked off on its raising and came looking for help at the end), but can't help you specifically on Gallop as all I've ever raised are diggers/Hot and Cold bitches. Generally though if they don't learn a new ability after a couple of days spamming the story your discernment is still too low. Maybe search these forums for some of Frenzy and Guppy's posts on how to raise racing birds? I know the general gist is that you need to eventually use the purchasable items to cap out STR/END after the bird's retired as you'll never be able to get both them and DIS/REC all up high enough during raising stages to learn canter/gallop while still keeping maxxed out STR/END pre-retirement.

I was in same situation, and yeah at bit dificient my bird learned the story, but it took 100+ attempts.

I'd suggest going for one more discernment level, while spamming stories, then stop once you learn it.

It's a lot easier at Average discernment.
