Guess I'll have to wait for a patch then as the running-around controls kill it for me, primarily since I'm loving the idea of pulling crap around to form your own little lines/gaps, just I can't deal with it with the current off-board setup.

I'm pretty sure they'll have lots of complaints about it when it comes to reviews, so hopefully they'll touch it up in the near-future.

You don't have to get off the board and walk everywhere, you can still use Session Markers, and your Board to get around and you can skate up to an obstacle then dismount instead of walking over to it.

I admit I find it cheap and tacked on but I won't hold back a purchase just for that reason.

Also likely they'll have something similar to the Subway system in Skate to get from one side of the map to the other. Skitching is stupid fast too.

    And just because:

Spent a few hours with the game last night and i have to say overall I am happy with it. Not really sure overall what to say other than the pros outweigh the cons so far, so I will just toss in a few random thoughts.

    • Surprisngly glitchy? Really mostly minor things, bouncing off of objects in ways you really shouldn't, rare camera issues, twitching player occasionally. All pretty rare... but... For those of you that played the demo and got out of Slappy's you know about the 'black void' areas.

Apparently there are still some in the actual game? I couldn't tell you where, it seemed to be near a pretty huge lake/pond but i skated right down the path... into nothing. After a few seconds of running into an object i couldn't see, i died. Not sure if it was a one time thing, maybe the game had a problem drawing that area and it will be there next time... we will see.

    • Much more difficult! Maybe I am rusty afte rnot playing Skate 1 for a few months at least, but wow. If any of you remember the 360 flip Challenge from 1... well it is like that only everywhere XD. I spent at LEAST an hour trying to beat the Plan B Challenge ... S.K.A.T.E. seemed harder too now, which is actually fine by me. The way that you could simple pull off any string of 540 tricks to win before was kinda broken. Now... in my first S.K.A.T.E. challenge I was the one trying to match Shinga's 540 Nollie Kickflip o.o;;

    • Things do feel a bit less fluid as far as generally skating around. Like mentioned earlier, with the demo. Sometimes it just feels like my controller isn't responding at all =(

    • The ramped up difficulty actually makes things more fun for me, i enjoy trying the same challenge until i get it right (which often means getting it near perfect). Definitely a challenge from the start.

    • Cutscenes are no worse than before. Some pros look like themselves, some... look like mutated versions. Hit or miss just like it was last time, but decent all around.

    • Pedestrians are much less annoying, they actually do their best to get out of you way when they see you coming. Whether that means diving to the side, or simply picking their feet up off the ground if you skate by them as they sit on a bench. There seem to be more pedestrians so the AI change is well done.

    • Cars are WAY more annoying. Before, they at least seemed to slow down if you were near them... now they will mow you down much easier. Basically, stay out of the street or die.

    • Revamped Hall of Meat (or w/e) is a nice addition. Way more broken bone challenges than before, and some of them quite funny. "Hit a car going 25mph and Cannonballing" was one i think.

    • City seems nearly twice as big as last time, at least. Could just be the 'newness' but it seems that way to me.

Overall I can definitely see myself getting hooked into this for a good long while. Feel free to add me if ya like, wouldn't mind checking out some of the Freeskate 'challenges' some time and sadly most of the rest of my gamer RL friends are not skaters as well so doubt many end up with the game =(

Also, feel free to link to your published skate videos? I remember that was one achievement i never did get last time because i got Skate WAY too late. For grins, here is my first video. Nothing special, but whatever.

Here is my Skate Reel Page, has one video and my Graphic so far.

    I bought a PS3 just for skate, GTA4, MAG and skate2!

nothing compares to the skate games if you skateboard in real life. THPS is a joke.

Finally got my hands on this. Have to say I'm a bit disappointed overall.

The Flick-It controls feel way more finicky than before, registering almost all Laser flips as a Shove-It and hitting Hardflips/Inward Heels is a nightmare compared to the original.

Framerate Lag when loading every now and then causes stutter though seemingly only when you're trying something you really want to land and graphic loading lags at times, especially with shadows. This is loading off the 360 HDD.

The way peds hold shit is also batshit. Totally out of sync with the peds motion. Get tasered and you'll see what I mean.
I've not encountered any 'big' or game-breaking bugs, but the few I did were noticeable.

We all know about the Resi style running around...

Mostly I hate how they didn't even bother with Footplant tricks. At most you can spin and the animations for them are terrible, they completely ruin any flow you had. Kind of feels like you fell on a trampoline.
Quite the cocktease since I really wanted No-Comply tricks to waste time on manny pads.

Game has also taken quite a turn for THPS realm with some challenges (Fuck you MJ and your stupid awning grind) though some are brilliantly realistic and silky smooth ('sup Puig).

And Black Box still can't write an ending. I swear Skate and Skate 2 are almost apologetic when you finish them. No feeling of accomplishment.

Not a bad game, but you can tell it's been rushed a bit. Though with a lot of Black Box guys laid off recently I can't blame them.

i didn't find it that bad at all, i did kind of notice the laser/360 flips turning into shuvits alot easier as you mentioned

the running is prolly the worst part of the game kinda pissed they didnt focus a bit more on this very rez eveilish

i think i got almost 700 gscore from this game so far so im pretty happy pretty much done with it tho i think im going to move on to the 360 civ game i've yet to try
