Have enUS, need to play on EU server.

So I recently decided to play some with a friend again and went to update my account, thinking it was still possible to change the realmlist.wtf file to easily play on an EU server with the US client. To my dismay the realmlist.wtf file doesn't exist anymore. I tried changing the realmlist that you set in config.wtf but that just made me unable to play on any servers and replaced local area of "United States" with "Development" (which won't go away by changing the config.wtf file back to normal <_< ) Anyone know if I can play on an EU server, or did I just waste like 800$ upgrading my account for nothing? D;

edit: Just did some spelunking and it seems the development thing is just cause of a maint. will have to wait to try again until after that then...

When you select realms within the client it gives you the option of US or Oceanic, I'm pretty sure the Oceanic option is EU.

Pretty sure the Oceanic option would refer to the continent of Oceania, or Australasia.

That's incorrect. You need to change your realmlist via the World of Warcraft folder and change it to EU in the set realmilist. Oceanic is Australia.

Know how to get that to stick? I change the config.wtf to have "SET realmList "eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com"" instead of us, yet it still gives me US/oceanic/latin america... ;(

I believe the european realmist is different. Hold on.

Edit: Did you try setting everything to europe? The realmlist my friend has is written as such:

set realmlist eu.logon.worldofwarcraft.com
set patchlist eu.version.worldofwarcraft.com
set portal eu

Second Edit: I just learned that in 3.0.2 they moved the realmlist to the Data/enUS/ folder. Are you checking inside there and editing that realmlist? I haven't tried connecting to europe since patch 2.4.3 so they might have changed it as well.

You can still connect to Europe, you just have to change the realmlist in Data/enUS like stated above.

Keep in mind that patching happens at different times for US/EU, although in the same week - US patches happen first, so you'll have to hold off on patching your client until EU patch maintenance and then use the US patch.

Yes, you need an actual EU account, with it's own set of keys and everything. US accounts will not allow you to make an EU toon. The EU client won't recognize it. I have both, and play both on EU and US, and they're both completely separate. I do play on the same client though. I try to avoid logging on both during patch days.
