Great advice everyone. I'll go by the Fleet Feet in Carrboro tomorrow. Any idea on what I should be prepared to spend?

And any advice on any particular type of food to eat before runs? Trail mix? Fruit?

    My shoes ran about 100-120.

Before runs I usually went with low fat yogurt with granola, a bagel, and water. Keep in mind I am 6'6" and usually weigh over 200.

If the people in your Fleet Feet are as cool as they are at mine, just talk to them about this stuff. They are usually more than helpful about any questions you have.

Mine were $130 bucks, yeah, running shoes are more expensive than your typical ones.

I usually drink milk shakes: bananas (or strawberries even both), regular milk, oatmeals, a powderish cerial made of a bunch of different grains, and w/e favourite chocomilk powder. It comes at around 600 calories. Obviously depends on your body type, etc. dunno if you're trying to lose weight or w/e. I'm @ 5'6 and 124 lbs., btw.

as far as bleeding nips are concerned, buy a tech fabric shirt and don't run in cotton. cotton gets soaked in sweat, the wet shirt chaffs your nipples, and yeah..bad news bears all around. Nike makes DryFit things, adidas makes ClimaCool shirts. lots of different options out there. Underarmour, Champion, CS, plenty of brands. I used to go with an underarmour compression top with a cotton tee over it, but you can pick up normal underarmour tech shirts very similar to the adidas or nike ones.
