See what you get Larry? Do you see what you get when you fuck a strainger in the ass? Do you see what happens Larry? When you suggest Bee Mage in FFXI?

Seriously though, very surprised that ring is only $2300. The ruby has to be fake, since the band alone will cost a good chunk of that cost, especially since its a custom design in platinum, which isn't a joy to work with.

What the fuck. I feel like a part of me has died with EGM being cancelled. They've always been a great magazine, with interesting and funny articles (Seanbaby!), and reviews that I actually trusted. I've been reading it for at LEAST ten years....

Guess I won't see any of that money I spent on 3 years of subscription for the magazine, either.

EGM isn't a very deep loss. The magazine has long since passed its prime. Same could be said for vidoegame magazines in general.

I don't like what happened here though. I appreciated 1up and have never been interested in UGO as a whole. Rather than absorb 1up, they burnt it to the ground.

Not surprised, and ultimately I don't see a big loss here. I haven't read EGM in its entirety since I was a teenager, and 1up has always been on the ass end of news postings. I've always seen every single one of their articles at least 1 days earlier. For awhile there I thought they had one guy copy/pasting kotaku articles right onto their site. Even late, the articles were never in full detail. Their reviews were hit and miss. When they were hit, I really enjoyed reading them. But most of the time, not only were they miss, but they would spend 2-3 pages telling you nothing.

Not going to miss any of 1up network. Moving on...

I've got to agree with Tekki and a few others. The only magazines I recieve anymore are Nintendo Power (ok, I can't quit you Nintendo Power) and Game Informer. Usually both of which I read through while using the restroom rather than sitting down and making an attempt. Anymore, Kotaku and a few other sites are what I tend to gravitate towards since I can check them while doing something else. I do enjoy reading through a magazine every so often, but I don't think I know anyone who's read EGM since before Game Informer came out. Even when I was young, I only had a subscription to Nintendo Power and I would buy the occasional EGM/PlayStation Magazine. Thank god for Destructoid and Kotaku, <3.

I'm actually fairly partial to Game Informer myself. I go to the Gamestop five minutes away from my house so I'm basically paying for the discount and getting a free magazine out of the deal. I like the reviews as for whatever reason, I seem to think on the same wave length as they do. They're usually pretty objective when it comes to reviewing games and they don't push too many just because they pay for an ad in the magazine. The same of which can't be said for some online sites coughcoughgamespotlookingatyoucough.

It's been said by others, but as far as video game magazines go, it is Game Informer and that is only for the EDGE discount. The discount easily pays for itself throughout the year, so the magazine is a bonus. I don't exactly read it cover to cover, but I do browse around in it when it hits my mailbox.

That's pretty much my assessment as well. I haven't winced this hard since G4 took TechTV out back and cannibalized it.

I'm surprised so many people don't care about EGM but say they enjoy Game Informer. The only reason I actually get Game Informer is because of my EDGE card, but other than that, I find it's just garbage for the most part. They don't seem to have any standard for reviewing games, and the second opinion parts are just a wasted spot where they could have included a decent review. I'm sad to see so many people let go, and even more sad that since it was rumored a few months ago, that it seems imminent that EGM is for sure going out of print.

If this means that Milkman would stop thinking that he's a god's gift to NA FFXI community, then all is well in the world.

The only thing I appreciate about Game Informer are its exclusive articles, and even then I only do occasionally. The writing is very dry and uninteresting, and a lot of their reviews really fail to thoroughly examine a game. There are exceptions, but most of the time, I find their evaluations to be formed off of nothing but opinion -- that's what a review should largely consist of, but some statements need to be based in factual reality.

Of course, Game Informer is dominating the industry because of the aforementioned EDGE cards. It's not because they're creating a truly good magazine, it's because they're constantly slipping it into people's houses for "free," and GameStop is the largest retail chain in the US. There's no need for them to improve because they'll have the reader base no matter what, eliminating the fear of competition and the need to grow.

The magazines I've actually enjoyed over the years were Gamefan, Hardcore Gamer Magazine, PLAY, and so on.

I'm gonna miss EGM. been a subscriber since I was 13 or 14. For all their flaws, they at least were always trying to improve, and made honest efforts at providing useful content that was helpful to readers (they get huge respect from me for going to the letter grading system after the industry shitstorm regarding reviews and how garbage the 7-10 scale was).

also they always seemed to have good connections with devs in Japan, which is really nice instead of GI interviewing CliffyB every other month.

You know what the sad thing is, though? What you just mentioned -- GI interviewing CliffyB, for example -- is what gets the average reader to look at your magazine. Most game consumers in the United States don't care enough about retro coverage, or interviews with Japanese developers, or anything like that. There are plenty of people who do give a damn and they're vocal about it on the internet, but even in the hundreds of thousands, they're still just a "noisy minority."

So, pandering to the masses leads to victory...
