When we lose someone at work, you let the family come see them while they are still warm. It's 100% different considering the next time you see them they will be cold, stiff, and in a box. It's much nicer to kiss/hug someone that just died than someone at a funeral.

Wow, that sucks. I feel for her kids. =\

Interested to see what the autopsy says today... wonder what went on in her head to go from laughing it off to death.

Heard something like a concussion/brain bruise that at some point becomes a full-on severe brain bleed.. hits so fast that it can't be reversed and suffocates the brain.

I do wonder what the exact sequence of events was. Anyone who sustains a head injury runs the risk of brain swelling, fluid built up, or the rupture of an aneurism. We get a lot of flack in the US for needless diagnostics but I can't help but wonder if she'd still be alive if he'd had an MRI or head CT.

Some one made a poor judgement call, she should have been thoroughly checked out.

I find the concept of hugging a corpse to be disturbing and the fact that doctors are animating the corpse to be creepy/exploitive.

That may just be me :/

They said on the news it was most likely an internal hemorrhage between the brain and the membrane that encases the brain. The fluid builds up because it has no where to go and slowly crushes the persons brain to death. The only way to save the person is if it is caught early enough and they cut the top of your skull off to release the pressure on your brain and let the fluids drain.

Also on CNN they were talking about how even though helmet wearing has increased fatalities in skiing and snowboarding has not gone down because the helmets will only save you up to 14 mph while the average speed in snowsports is from 25-40 mph.

Helmets are more to prevent external damage such as cuts and bruises to the scalp.

I'm not so sure about this. The padding is there to absorb the shock of a fall, to prevent your head from splitting open. But, as you said, they can only absorb so much. After a certain point they're useless.

So I guess motorcycle helmets are only designed to protect up to 14mph impacts too?
There's a significant difference between a bicycle helmet and a high speed Snell approved helmet. Bicycle helmets like the one you are talking about are made of medium density foam without any sort of external shell. Sports helmets are made of the same materials that give snowboards their flex. They also have high density foam on the inside to absorb quite a lot of blunt force. I don't have stats for you right now, but I assure you that helmets are not there to keep your perfect little from being cosmetically scarred.

On E! news yesterday they were saying that the first ambulance to come pick her up was turned away and the second one didn't get there until an hour after the first. She might have been in too critical condition at that point for them to do testing, but I'm not really sure.

I didn't know that her husband was Liam Neeson though, that guy is the man.

Jade Goody died last night. Anyone who knows who she is probably has an opinion on her televised chemotherapy treatment and such.

its a LOT worse to fall on a beginner hill. its all old, densely packed snow and because you're going so slow, you usually just slip and drop flat on it. Imagine snowboarding or skiing down a hill and falling, youre probably not going to land with a lot of weight on your head, and there's typically enough powder to (somewhat) break your fall because it isnt all packed in. And if its just a slip, you wont have your arms or elbows to support you, you just fall flat. Landing on your shoulder and having it break on impact and reducing the slam your head takes is a lot better than having your head eat the impact. But that doesnt happen if you're sliding slowly downhill and you slip. imagine your first time trying to ride roller blades. Your feet get ahead of you and you slip on your butt, but in skis its a lot easier to just totally fall flat cause the hill's sloped and skis are big. Just gotta wear a helmet and hope for the best

Not sure why so many people care, maybe I'm just a terrible person. She deserves no special treatment nor sympathy though, loudmouthed racist bitch who is only known any more than any other random in the world thanks to Big Brother. I'd never wish death upon her but I couldn't care less that she's gone. Props to her for all the public death shit though, even though it was primarily to raise money for her kids she probably helped raise cancer awareness a fair bit because of it.
