These episodes were made of epic and win all wrapped in a crunchy shell of ass-kicking. I could care less about the lack of secret service and how it was that easy to break into the white house. Next weeks episode looks to be amazing as well, the clip of jack crying at the end makes me think someone is going to be killed off. They have so many main characters in the line of fire it could be anyone of them at this point. This episode literally sky-rocketed this season into greatness.

This season so far has been epic. It is shocking to think that we are roughly half way through and the CIP device is gone, Dubaku is dead, and Juma is trapped. Where are we going to be in the next 12 hours!?!?!?

If I invited a time machine, the first thing I'd do is go into the future in 1 week intervals to finish 24 ASAP!

I think everyone is upset because there wasn't any "FUCK YEA" moment. We're all upset that Jack pussed out and came out of the room.

It's upsetting because the level of writing is juvenile in its adherence to strict paint-by-numbers stereotypes.

"Women are hysterical and useless under pressure, good only for getting knocked out at crucial junctions and taken hostage"
"You can't trust those black dudes"
"There is always at least one guy per episode that will blame Jack Bauer for everything"
"Getting shot in the shoulder means you can't stand up and follow someone into a room."

This doesn't even enter into the absolute shit they're making up for how computers, networks and filesystems work.

It's not all bad, it finally feels like the series will see some closure for certain characters starting next episode, but the writers really love to stretch the audience's suspension of disbelief thin.

The show is much more enjoyable when you ignore the poor writing. I ruined the past two or three seasons for myself because I was overly critical of it all. I made it a point, at the beginning of the season, to not take the writing too seriously and to take the dialog as nothing more than a set up for future drama. The dramatic tension is all I want from 24, and these two episodes delivered greatly. I hadn't enjoyed 24 that much in a very long time.

ehhh I'm starting to change my opinion on this season. I loved it at first, but it's crossed the normal "HOLY FUCK DID YOU SEE THAT" unbelievability, and just becoming "How the hell...what?" unbelievable. A lot of the things they allow to happen are pretty contrived, and I'm getting annoyed at having to suspend belief just to be entertained by the show.

I really hope they pick it up for the latter half of the season, because I love 24 and really would hate for it to leave a sour taste in my mouth

While I agree with both posts above, tonight was EPIC FUCKING TELEVISION. That was seriously the first time in a very, very, VERY long time I wasn't just vegetatively watching the episode... I was ohshiting and WHATTHEFUCKAREYOUDOINGing and NODONTGODOWNTHATHALLWAYOHSHITTURNAROUNDDONTGOTHROU GHTHATDOORing the entire 2 hours.

God I love 24. SO GOOD.

I was ready to give up on 24, but figured I'd hang on for one more season.

About 5 episodes in I was going to stop watching it, but then they had an episode that was Jack kicking people's asses, and that's really all that I ask out of this show anymore.

The writing is horrible, the scenarios are poorly explained and executed, but dammit I love watching Keifer Sutherland shooting people and fighting, that's the only reason (but reason enough) to keep watching.

in before they kill off Bill. I like his character but I can't see jack reacting the way he did in the preview from anyone else in the room getting killed.

The only video of the preview (torrented episodes don't have them) up right now is this one, and I think it cuts off just as he's crying (hand over mouth?). Unless it goes on for a bit more showing a bigger cry, I don't think it's anything but him just being sick to his stomach about what's going on (and the fact they're probably killing off hostages).

I agree with many of the posts above how from a technological standpoint, breaking into the white house could not possibly be even 1/5 of how easy it was for them in real life. But if you're watching the show for that kind of correctness, you're going to be sorely disappointed. It's a television drama, it won't be 100% accurate by any means, but its not meant to be, its meant to entertain and keep you in suspense, which it does beautifully.

Do the writers on this show make every woman an idiot? My... jumping to the boat and not securing her firearm then using zero tactical ability to get the map and then jumping off... Seriously?

Then Jack opening the door to let the pres out. WTF. All in all I'm not too upset but seriously it's been very predictable, however; enjoyable.

It's a goddamn TV show, you can't expect them to write in every single "what the character should have done" in this situation or else the show would be boring as fuck.

Watching Jack Bauer lunge into the safe room while the two secret service agents stayed out there was a weird moment, but otherwise good episode.

As for Renee she isn't exactly special ops and she probably thought everyone on the boat left which is why she was so careless.
