I agree, this season lacks a real Antagonist for House (he's had a different one every season) and the new love-triangle plot lines are becoming boring. The new staff is also pretty undeveloped and lacking in novelty at the moment. Fix this House Writers!

24 isn't meant to have "good" writing IMO. It is all about throwing a bunch of balls-to-the wall epic situations in a season. The good/bad seasons come from how well they balance out the story with said situations. This season has done a fantastic job of throwing in great action into this season and spreading them out just enough to make you keep watching.

I want to see Jack shoot first and ask questions later. Jack shorting the phone with the tazer was classic Jack. Jack isn't Jack if he sits there and thinks everything out. I don't care if the White House shouldn't be that easy to break into. If they don't come up with some BS reason to get them in, we miss possible epic moments. Sure Jack not opening up the door would've been the "no-brainer" thing to do, but it opens up a whole other world of possibilities than one dead and mutilated body and the president bitching to Jack for a whole episode.

24 does just enough character development to let you know how people will and should generally act. In general though, it is a popcorn-action-flick split up into 24 episodes. Tear apart writing for shows that rely on it. 24 relies on explosions, gun fire, moles, terrorists, bombs, nukes, torture, and Jack being a badass.

I would disagree, I think Jack meticulously plans everything he does as much as he is able to, he knows exactly the consequences of most everything he does or is able to guess at worst case scenarios often, and knowingly sacrifices himself despite the pain and suffering the situations are almost guaranteed to cause him. That's why hes compelling to me, if it wasn't for that he'd just be your stereotypical superspy type guy lol

edit: If 24 was as entirely mindless as I think you are saying it is, it/Jack Bauer would not be referenced in every philosophy class I've taken. I think Seasons 1-4 were as good as they were because they were able to balance good political intrigue/interoffice politics, Jack being a badass, and thoughtprovoking questions about lots of ethical decisions. They've sort of lost that as time has gone on especially last season, but before 24 was always about Jack balancing 2 opposing ethical problems and being able to navigate the razorthin line between either decision by being a badass.

Much stronger episode than last time but seriously 'I need agents I can trust; I thought that was you' was a groaner 20 years ago, and it's even worse today.

At least now the rest of the series is Jack killing a bunch of fuckers who need to get killed. No more getting cockblocked by people who just keep handcuffing him.

I can't stand the actor who portrays Larry Moss... he is just terrible. Anger is one of the easiest emotions to act with in my opinion and he just fails at it. I don't believe his character for a second when he's "pissed". I just laugh.

The actress for Renee does a solid job though, which evens it out somewhat.

Honestly, if a sole source of "key intel" was as important as Ryan Burnett... wouldn't you have swarms of security surrounding him both inside and outside of the room, not to mention blocking all of the access points to him? It's hilarious how flawed some things this season have been, such as how when they increased the threat level they failed to increase security in the white house and in particular around the president... you would have figured this would be the FIRST place they increase security.

I just have to keep reminding myself I watch 24 for Jack Bauer, not the plot loopholes

After the last episode's break into the White House, this thread has effectively ruled out any sort of legitimacy in real life situations this show has. =P Things happen at the ease they do purely for entertainment factor. Thinking else-wise will ruin the show for you.
