No this is separate I believe. I remember that issue, but the guy just posted his phone calls to his blog + letters from Verizon. They later apologized and refunded him. This just seems to be some random pissed off dude that is good at math and has a sense of humor.

That verizon math thing kind of gets on my nerves, because the guy is being rather indignant about the whole thing; yeah it was a mixup in terms, but it's pretty easy to see where the problem occurred; had he received a written quote there would have been zero confusion whatsoever.

(Granted verizon could have prevented the whole thing by quoting "two tenths of a cent" instead of "point zero-zero-two cents", but my point stands)

I only halfway recognized the last series number (or w/e it is called), but I'm too far removed from calculus classes I sucked at to remember the actual value.

I think he meant .002 dollars and not .002 cents when he said that. If it was .002 dollars, then 2/10ths of a cent would be correct.

The guy wrote the check because he argued with a verizon rep about the actual rate of his contract for like 30 mins, mostly on the difference between 0.02 dollars and 0.02 cents. There is a video on youtube detailing the entire conversation. The rep insisted there is no difference and the two are identical. The guy eventually got fed up on how mathematically challenged the rep really is and he wrote the check.
