    Taxation

Someone remind me of why SE added taxing to AH. If I recall correctly that was also when they also started taxing Jeuno bazaars. I assume it was to remove gil from the system, punishing us along with the RMT. They have done away with Jeuno bazaar tax, yet not AH taxes, which is damn annoying and adds up. Anyway, my question still stands, anyone have any remember the concrete details as to why we started paying tax?

I always thought selling on the AH was classified as a fee and not tax?

I call it tax because it is based on the price you sell your item. I don't remember the AH having fee/taxes when I started playing in 03, I could be very wrong though, that was so very long ago.

The fee used to be ridiculously cheap everywhere, with a slight boost in Jeuno. They upped it a while ago, but I'm fairly certain there was still the tax in Jeuno.

Pretty sure this is how it went. I think I remember the Jeuno AH fee being raised a few days after I started playing...so early March 2004.

Auction taxes is to take money away from the economy

Bazaar taxes is to remove afk people from congested area.

They did it at a point when inflation was getting really bad because people kept price gouging everything, so they increased the AH fees so that you would lose more money if you tried to overprice an item and it kept not selling.

I'd say this and to make people use the home nation auction houses for applicable items too instead of a Jueno AH overload.
And paying 200g to put up 12 earth crystals in Jueno is completely retarded.

It used to be a flat fee, one for single items and one for stackable items.

Then they made it percentage based.
