Specifically, the PS3 version will not have the Japanese voices with English subtitles because, well, it can't fit on the Xbox 360 and since they want to be "fair" to both platforms, then they won't put it on the PS3 as well - regardless if it can afford to have the Japanese audio track or not. Which it totally can.
edit: fuck dat link not working n shit
lol
Let's start complaining! And realize nothing was actually lost.

The fuck it comes out a day before my birthday in Japan? Importing this so damn baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
I think the other stuff that they were talking about is scarier. They may have cut access to earlier area's in the game due to not wanting people on 360 to disc swap. This just shows that there are disadvantages to them releasing it on 360 for PS3 owners because they'll likely lose certain options but what the fuck can you do about it, nothing.
Didn't think about them disabling areas like that. Though it makes sense... look what they did at the end of Final Fantasy 8.... good god that annoyed the shit out of me. I hope to god they don't do that again in a similar fashion.
I love going back to worthless towns and areas to fight enemies 10x weaker than me. Being able to backtrack will be sorely missed.
orz please no. i love exploring the whole world to the last tidy bit before i go and 1shot the endboss :3
Am I the only one who sees this as a massive implementation of Chrono Cross's battle system between the skill stars and healing up after each battle?
In terms of having to swap discs to revisit old areas...have they said the PS3 version will be multiple discs? I only see this as a problem for 360 users if thats the case.
Also, this IS Square Enix. Don't rule out a PS3 Special Edition a few months after release that has all the stuff theyre mentioning as gimped because of the 360 release.
ps3 will be one disc only. they aren't even using the full capacity to ensure that the 360 port fits on 3(4?) discs.
I wouldn't mind swapping discs as long as it told me which disc to use.
But it's really just a way to make gamers get a bit more exercise if you think about it. What a good ploy, SE. All jokes aside though, they need to stop bitching about "360 limitations" since they didn't HAVE to put it on the system and it was somewhat unexpected that they did (unless you play FF11 I guess). It is going to be a great moneymaker for them having it on both consoles, so they should stop making 360 sound like the bad guy. Wah no JP audio? You've NEVER had that before, so why bitch that you're not getting it now? etc. etc.
Ya because it's so awesome in a game when you get to the final disc/chapter and realize that you missed the beginning of some really important quest line or piece of gear. Cutting out areas is stupid even if they don't serve a purpose other than fleshing out the world and getting the reaction from initial NPCs earlier in the game. There's no good reason to do it in any RPG unless it's specifically for a plot device like, "city gets blown up," and even then you should still be able to visit that area again to find out the reaction of survivors or other things.
Still reminds me of opening 1 chest in FF12 and basically dicking yourself out of one of the best weapons later on. I hate shit like that, basically requires a guide to get.
Things like that and missable items piss me off more than anything.
No Japanese audio and English subtitles, as Lbelle said, isn't really a huge loss since we've never had that before, and I somehow doubt too much of the game was changed, since it was just announced last year that it was going to Xbox 360 and it is coming out this year in japan?
Oh well, still waiting for FF13 more than any other game at the moment.
Fucking this.
There's no reason whatsoever to make important items "missable" or hide things in such obscure places that a guide is required. Yeah, put stuff off the beaten path, but "don't open these 12(?) crates" is impossible to figure out without a guide. SE doesn't seem to understand the concept of a puzzle, really. You're supposed to be able to solve one without pure luck.
JP dubs will probably be available on the "international" ps3 version if you're patient.
