jesus, i havn't played ffxi for a long time but parties get 20-30k/hr nowdays? well shit lol
how long does it take to hit 75 then? add in that level sync thing they added recently and i'd imagine only 3 months for a casual gamer?
Did it year ago, and it was a pain. It always ended in a stupid way (1k+ sickle slash), or ghrah aggro. It's fun occasionally, but I wouldnt want to do a 12k/h there after getting 24k on collibri.
And Ghrah M chip don't drop in Garden. Well, they used to, but they are so rare now it's worthless (they might be removed completely, havent got one in months, and killed many ghrah)
Cant really get this much xp unless you're 75. After 55, good party can get over 10k/h all the time tho.
You're a moron lol go back to your trolling saying Burtgang >>>>>> excal
Seriously, from all your posts, I can notice one trend. Your mindset is EXTREMELY limited.
Come to Pande and merit with me 35k/hr easy prey chaining Wivres in between.
You don't even need 3 fully pimp melees to achieve this.
1 voke bitch , 2 pimp melees fulltime hasso (maxed on gears, we are usually WAR/SAM or Apocx2+ cor + rdm + brd (no outside healing required even)
profit!
I think someone did the calculations about the upper cap on the number of mobs you can kill in time to get to 35K-40K/hr and found that it was impossible to achieve because of respawn times (but I doubt that included Wivres). I don't remember exactly what the upper limit was though, but in general everyone over exaggerates their xp/hr at birds.
Maybe on your server you can hold both camps, but on any reasonably sized server it is hard enough to find one of the camps open, let alone both. On Odin you are lucky to go 5 minutes in either camp and not having a German party come in and start pulling the one or two birds that may be up at the time.
I do agree that people are too afraid to fight Wivres, but with an average party they can be chain breakers. *shrug*
^ This
Best Setup I have found for this camp is
Drg/Sam Drg/Sam War/Sam (Voke Bitch) Cor Brd Rdm
I usually Merit like this with Liquidedust and with each Drg taking turns to Angon the Wivres in between birds things just Melt.
I would agree tho, for your average party, Wivres will mess up your chain.
The game needs more camps like this IMO, having only a handfull of decent areas to merit in the whole game sucks considering the 75 population.
I wouldnt even get out of bed for 12k hr merit.
Yeah it's best to go to full camps and attempt to get 24k+ an hour than empty camps and get "mediocre exp"..perfect logic.
Seriously..have you people truly gotten that spoiled that when a camp is full you'd still rather try to exp/merit there?
If you're that hard up for merits, sure. Go for it.
Everyone else will do something more productive with their time.
Exactly.
...Unless it was to re-visit Deco Weapons in the Shrine or annoying ass Aura Statues like the old days.
Mmm, memories.
The jobs I regularly use are sufficiently merited that the only time I feel I should settle for less than ideal exp/hour is when we're accomplishing something else. Sure, I'll go get some merits on Aura Statues or the Aerns around Ix'DRG/DRK for the benefit of the linkshell. Or I'd go to Oztroja [S] if someone wanted Vicious Mufflers. I'd even do a route like this for Grah chips. But at that point, it's "farming for the LS with bonus merits", not "meriting with bonus farming". The Signet/Sigil 2-5 person exp bonus is nice when doing stuff like that, though, since often you don't have 6 people.
I once made 800k/hr at bird camp, I'm not exaggerating to make myself feel cool. >.>
OP thanks for what you attempted to do with this thread, although I saw it devolving as soon as some moron like Wraith completely missed the point and felt the need to post.
I typically do drg/rdm and five melee, or possibly 4 and something like a cor, which is pretty strong. The limit is around 24k/hr without wivre killing or pulling both floors, which I will have to try next time.
Let's see... 35,000 divided by 60 minutes equals 583 experience points per minute. So stop lying.
Unlike most people, yes I will go to a slower camp if it means I'm not camping on another party who got there first. It's common courtesy, although its not all that common anymore.

How did this get to two pages without that being mentioned? I wouldn't make a merit PT and bring them to a goofball camp like this, but I would consider saying, "does anyone want to farm sea/whatever for some buffer and pop items?"
Edit:
Curious, you don't think it is possible to kill that fast, or you don't think there are enough mobs to keep up that pace? In my last merit PT at birds, they died in 25 seconds on average, I'm fairly certain that with two Apoc instead of DNC/NIN and MNK this would be sub 19 seconds. The only thing limiting such parties are mob repops, but 35k including Wivre/second floor is certainly possible, albeit extremely rare to pull off in practice.
Just crunched the numbers.
Let's assume you have capped Imperial Defense, so Sanction gives 15%.
Also assume your Corair is some sort of God, and can maintain a solid 11 on Corsair's Roll for 1 hour.
On top of these, your chain is already capped starting the 1 hour timer, and there's unlimited Greater Colibri.
Let's say you kill one enemy every 45 seconds, and they average at 300 experience points each.
With Sanction and Corsair's Roll giving you a 39% bonus, you get 417 experience points every 45 seconds.
You kill 80 enemies in 1 hour, totaling 33,360 experience points.
These are EXTREMELY generous assumptions.
In reality, you will never have maxed Corsair's Roll for 1 hour straight, you will never not run out of enemies killing 1 every 45 seconds, and you will never get 300 experience points every kill.
Okay, so you're just playing with extremely weak melees, as I said the average fight length according to Kparser was 25 seconds with WAR/SAM MNK/WAR COR/RNG and DNC/NIN damaging, for an actual real merit PT. I'm certain Apoc/SAM Apoc/SAM WAR/SAM COR/RNG would be sub 19 second fights on Colibri.
The only thing generous in your theoretical merit party is the infinite colibri.
You can also pull occasional Mamool @ that camp. Did 32.something k/hr with apoc, war, mnk + rdm brd cor with a party below us as well. It's not that hard.
Let's say you get rid of all those ridiculous conditions and just assume you can kill faster than 45 seconds.
I'd like to meet the Bard who has time to cast March or Utsusemi in that madness.Originally Posted by Tubbers
This only further proves my point of the impossibility. Also note that you are only measuring the time from engage to kill, not between kills. This down time increases when the kill time gets shorter, and you don't end up actually killing any more per hour.
