Give A moogle a slap in the face

So I'm in the process of raising the inventories on my more strapped crafting mules from 'fucked' to 'less fucked' as I can. However one thing has me really stumped:

What the holy hell is up with the moogle quest for the safe.

Explination: For 3 weeks now I've had Hero fame; I've a gobbie bag VI and the bronze bed in my mog house(on my mule). But despite being parked back in my MH 3+ days before conquest tally, the stupid moggle just laughs at me. So 2 weeks ago I got him up to rank 2, and Bam! Quest flagged.

This week I tried it with another mule, got her up to hero fame (<3 you Boyhada moss) and tried flagging the quest. She already has rank 2. But the stupid thing wont flag. This mule has never set foot out of the Ronfaure region.

I have another Mule who's been in Jueno for like, 3 years now with 80/80 safe size. I go look: Rank 1. The only things I did on him were stuff the sheep with cabbage/moss.

I know that once you flag the first quest the next 2 don't have near these issues unless you're not in your home nation mog house when conquest rolls around, but for the life of me I can't figure out what the deal is with the first one. Any insights/suggestions/stabbings?

I can't remember 100% but to flag the first one doesn't whatever nation need to be first?

This. I'm 99% sure that you have to be in first to start all the mog bed quests because I remember for one of them it took months before I could actually get the quest to activate.

Your nation doesn't have to be currently in first, I've done all of them just recently on my Bastokan mule and Bastok on Asura has not been in first in months. It's possible though that at some point in your mule's lifetime your nation has had to have been in first, the mule I did these on has been around since last spring and in that time Bastok has been in first at least once (sometime last summer iirc... yeah, Bastok on Asura sucks really badly in conquest) so I had absolutely no problems flagging all mog safe quests just before Xmas (Bastok rank 2 at the time I did these quests, level 3 or 4 fame iirc). I know you're on Asura but how old is your mule Apelila and what nationality?

Also, this may be a really silly question but exactly what other furniture do you have on that mule? Are there any other pieces that could be trying to trigger a different event from the moogle?

For the mog safe quests, even if you meet the fame requirement, the quest triggers randomly. It can be on the first tally after you put in bed like it can take 4 weeks.
It doesn't have anything to do with playtime or your nation's ranking as far as I know.

Sandy, and it has been active (I think?) since September, but Windy has been dominating /rmap for god only knows how long.

This, though I wouldn't think it would be an issue anymore at this stage of the game. Not all that many new folks anymore.

Sandy's in first place this week so if you still can't get it next Sunday I don't know what to suggest. I never heard of a limit to number of peeps who can get the quest each week but first for everything. o.o Just sounds odd as I or anyone I ever heard of never had problems flagging these quests in 5 years of playing, my entire first social LS did the quests in a couple of months rotating 3 beds weekly between us. But could had just gotten lucky. Plus I'm EU so tally happens at 3 or 4pm on Sunday afternoons so I'm almost always online for it if it indeed is first-come first-served.

Just to be sure, were you talkling to the moogle in your nation or in Jeuno/somewhere else?

There's no trick or hidden condition, it's just random. Just like you won't get a present every time from the christmas furniture during the Christmas event.

I recently made the furniture for a long-time player friend. He has multiple 75 jobs, max fame everywhere, and his country is always first on our server. Still, he didn't get the quest after the first tally after he put the bed in.
Back when I was first doing the quests, there's one I only got on the second tally after putting furniture. It's just random...

Back then I first thought it was buggy, too, until I saw several wikis and sites specify "even if you meet the requirements, the quest triggers randomly", so it's not unheard of.

Both mules are have been parked in Port Sandy for 3 weeks now.

I'm leaning towards the 'random' on people who can flag it, or there being something we're all missing.

I just recently took the time to raise a mule's bank & mog locker to a more useful state. A couple of things to note:

If it's a windy alt, it takes a lot longer since you can't use the fame from moss/corn for hero fame needed for the bed/mog safe quests. Still works for gobbiebag + fame needed to get to aht urghan though.

You can do all the bed quests at mission rank 1, level 1. You can do all the gobbie bags, and mog locker as well.

One thing I have encountered before, is some sort of problem where you put the bed down first, then go raise fame, and then the quest not activating properly. Try picking up the bed, and placing it down again if you're not getting it and have a proper level of fame.
