I'm sure that the time distortion had some kind of radius that extended out into the water. He very well could have found that piece of drift wood and just passed out on the plank after the explosion which is why he made no effort to get back to the island.

Sun was looking at the ship right before the explosion, and Jin never came out. I'm curious to see how he actually survived.

It's not really surprising he is back (mostly because he never got a real death scenes), but they killed many characters last season out of nowhere (ie: Rousseau, her daughter and her boyfriend).


About time travel, what determine if an object follow the person warping, or if it stay behind. Why the boat stayed, but their camp disapeared.

Well, we are talking about an island where miracles happen, so it's not too much of a stretch to think something weird might have happened, unless they actually come us with another explanation.

For starters, we saw Jin on the top of the boat. He ran out right after they took off but the pilot refused to set it back down because the bomb was about to go off.

Also I think if they are in direct physical contact with the object, it comes with them. That's how Sawyer was carrying around the WWII rifle in the present time.

Yes. I remembered it wrong (I thought he was going back inside after this), and the first explosion isn't that big. He could have been knocked in the water.

I understand this much about time travel, it's just that "touching something" isn't a physical phenomenon specific enough to decide what is teleported and what is not. If they ever attempt to explain it with sciences later, they would never be able to tell us why something like the boat follow them, when plants and ground remain behind.

Not necessarily, those objects came from the future in the first place. It only make sense if they are sent back with the characters.

I guess that is the way they're going to have it for objects. If it traveled through with them initally, it will continue to travel with them even if they are not touching it. Like the Zodiac, which made the first couple jumps with them without them being in it. For obvious reasons, it seems that the only objects they can take with them is what they can carry, like the rifle. That does leave something like the canoe they were escaping on, but that had several of them in it so maybe that factored in.

My question was more along the line of "what" or "who" decides what get transported. If it's the island or Jacob, there is no issue since they are pretty much magical being. If it's science [fiction] and it follow a strict rule, something like this can't possibly work

It has to be a scientific fiction strict rule/Island cause idk, if Jacob could orchestrate all of that himself why does he need Ben to move the island when he can just do it himself and cause only the boat people to be dislodged in time.

I think the general consensus is that the Black Rock got there because it was sailing in open waters the last time (or one of the times) the Island was moved, and it just happened to be right under it. No fancy time travel trips or anything. Which brings up another question.

The Island has been moved before. What is different now that is causing the problems with Faraday and the others? I would say it may be due to the lack of the Hatch, but in Island terms that is relatively new. Unless they just really never had to move it before. Or the DI 'broke' whatever it was they found and sealed up in concrete (assuming it has nothing to do with the bomb).
