So is the baby Ben? Did anyone go watch that episode of when Ben was a Kid to see what his parents looked like?
I wonder if more Women liked this past episode more than Guys? For some strange reason my wife HATES Juliet. She was pissed when Sawyer was with her. LOL
Not ben, ben wasn't born on the island unless he was born on the island, then remove, then sent back with a new father. We already saw his past.
Tell your wife she's silly! Juliet is awesome, it's Kate's character that took a nosedive.
Adding to the conversation about Ben's birth, he was born on the side of the road as well which doesn't match this.
From Lostpedia for confirmation:
I agree. Juliet gets better and better and the more I see Kate the more I can't stand the bitch. I really hope Sawyer doesn't leave Juliet for Kate since they go well together.Ben Linus was born on December 19 in the early 1960s, early in his mother Emily's third trimester. Roger and Emily Linus were hiking in a forest 32 miles outside Portland, Oregon (Official Lost Podcast/September 21, 2007) when she went into early labor. The birth went badly for Emily, and Roger carried her out to a roadway, flagging down Horace and Olivia, a couple passing by, for help. Ben lived, but Emily died. Emily's last words were a request that Roger name the child Benjamin. ("The Man Behind the Curtain")
Ben's father wasn't Horace, he was a janitor(we find his body from where Ben killed him when Hugo finds the Dharma Van), and Ben killed his mother in labor, Michelle Dessler is still alive so it's not him. I doubt the kid is anyone we know, I think the pregnancy was more to show that whatever is killing pregnant Other women/babies happened after Ben gassed the Dharma Initiative, which raises another question about why that's happening if they are the natural inhabitants of the Island? Wouldn't it want them to procreate/reproduce?
The timeline the last two episodes put forth seems weird(to me at least) when put into context with the stuff from what we know previously, if Ben isn't on the island at this point in 1974(I think they would've showed him if he was), I don't understand how he could have had enough time to grow up, kill the Dharmas at 18, then usurp Widmore as leader of the Others all before being emotionally mature enough to be a parent in 1988 when he supposedly steals Alex from Rousseau. And if he got rid of Widmore at somepoint in the 80s how would Widmore have been able to be Penny's father? From what Widmore said last episode I gather he has turned the wheel of the island himself(so who turned it to set everything right again if he did?), and from Ben/Locke turning it we learn that it puts you in Tunisia, sometime in the future from when you turned it. Also, why is Richard so clean cut now, yet back when Ben first encountered him 4-6 years later he seemed to be so much more savage/wild looking?
Horace the Leader of Dharma?
Also ever go to this site?
http://spoilerslost.blogspot.com/
Yeah same Horace, hence how he got Ben's dad to the island
So...ugh this time travel stuff really confuses me. Since Sawyer and crew got time morphed to the '70s (or so they/I think) and were there for three years, then how are Kate and them coming back to the 70s too? I mean, Locke moved the time thingy and then was back in normal time with Kate and them, and then now it's seemingly 30ish years later but they're all back on the island at the same time? I'm just really confused by it.
I think maybe its only the 70s on the island?
Locke/Ben Ajira 316 didn't travel back in time(probably because they both turned the wheel), thats why the Oceanic 6 seemed to disappear other thanand the flight itself crashed(probably pulled in by the same magnetic anomaly that pulled in 815.) We know they didn't travel back in time because when the island was bouncing around in This Place is Death they went back to their camp and the rafts + ajira water bottles were there so possibly Locke led them to the old camp.Spoiler: show
Faraday explained it fairly well last night, the record stopped skipping but they are on the wrong song. The islands no longer bouncing around in time but it stopped bouncing in a time period they don't want to be in, Dharma.
As for Locke, when you move the island it throws you out into the Tunisian desert at a random time sometime later, Ben's jump was only ~1 yr forward, Locke's just happened to be 3 years.
Is that better or are you still confused?
The island's time is not the same time as the outside world. It's likely that when they ALL crashed on the island, they weren't on the same time as the outside world either and we just assumed they were.
All John Lock did was stop the flashes from happening anymore by stopping the process from happening.
The flashes kept jumping through time while the outside world remained on the same time. Outside = 2005 > 6 > 7 > 8, Inside = 197X > X > X > X.
So when the people arrived again on the island, they arrived in the island's local time which is not the same as the outside world's time.
Does that make any sense to you?
Yeah what Wafik said made a bit more sense, but how do we know that's the case? I love this show but it's so confusing to me.
Don't worry its confusing to everybody.
I can't wait for the scene where Sawyer finds out Locke 'died'. Should be touching since he waited so long for him.
Because it's exactly what they showed us <_>
We'd have to assume that people naturally age on the island, as provided by evidence that Alex grew from a baby into a mature young adult entirely on the island , ben grew from a child into an adult, and also that Charlotte was a baby on the island and became an adult years later offshore.
With this in our mind, there's no "time freeze" happening where people stay at a standstill in time and don't age. Even if that's the case, and there was a standstill in time, Sawyer's speech to Horace solidified the fact they were only there for 3 years (in regards to the question if 3 years is enough to get over someone).
Help any more?![]()
The time on the island definitely goes much slowly than it is off the island. Jack, kate, hugo and others only left the island for home for only about 2 weeks, but it was 3 years off the island. Then there were two separate time travels. Sawyers and others went back to 1974 and Jack, kate and others went back to 1977 when their plane crashed in 2008. All the survivors are destined to get back together, the only difference is which point in time.
It was bothering me, so I checked on lostpedia
It's not really surprising if timelines don't match considering the nature of the island, but ~8 years is still a lot.According to information that was provided by Ben, Charlotte Staples Lewis was born on July 2, 1979 in Essex, England to parents David and Jeannette.
There was a young red headed child on the Island in 1974, holding a woman's hand.
I loved the part with Sawyer and Richard. It's kinda funny that richard was actually more confused than Sawyer for a moment.
The episode was pretty good in overall. I fear the love triangle...square that is obviously going to hit us again, but everything else look awesome.
It may be a bit confusing since Locke time-traveled, but both groups (call them Sawyer's & Jack's) both experienced the 3 year period at the same time, give or take the time between when Ben pushed the wheel and John did. It didn't take Sawyer's group 3 off-island years to experience 2 on-island weeks. Unless I misunderstood you.
I don't think it's time moving slowly, I think it moves at the same pace, it's own pace.
Think of it this way, you have two Stereos, they're both playing at the same time and at the same speed. One of the stereos, you decided to rewind for a bit and press play again, now both stereos are still playing at the same pace but now out of sync.
The final time travel by Sawyer's crew is not different from the time travel by Jack's crew, they both entered the delayed time zone, just at different points. To use my example again, Sawyer's crew entered in the first quarter of the song, Jack's crew entered three quarters in, but they're both in the same delayed song.
So if that theory is correct, to Jack / Kate / Sawyer / Hurley, they have aged 3 years while the others are still what you said, 2 weeks older. The only difference is the fact that the island kept jumping through various points in time, while the people who left the island are on a constant timeline.
The only person different to all this was John Lock, he left the island in Sawyer's time when he was digging up a well and arrived in Tunisia 3 years later, but that was because he turned the wheel. Ben did something similar but I forget how far in the future he was pushed.
To me it feels like the Island pushes you out to match the time of the people who you were with. (It's been 3 years since the main guys left, John leaves and pops out 3 years later.)
I think pre dharma, the island was most likely untouched timewise and was at the same pace, unless the ancients knew how to play with the time dial.
