Ah yes, when she showed Desmond that business like guy die and Desmond asked her why didnt she stop him or warn him and she replied something among the lines of "you cant change his fate, even if she moved him, he would die the next day, even if she saved him the next day, he would still die"

Was before when charlie died iirc now

Yeah, that's why he finally had to let Charlie go. It didn't matter how long he kept saving him. He was destined to die one way or another.

I don't understand why all these media outlets are saying the new season is so confusing. It's really not all that hard to follow if you pay attention. The different timeshifts can throw you off, but it's really not that hard to put together. People just need to *gasp* use their brains. I know brains + tv doesn't really go together... but just this once.. c'mon.

Anyway, the opening 10 mins was amazing and epic. I loved all of it. The 2nd episode was a bit slower, but still quite good. It looks like they're gonna pick up the pace and have little to no filler and just continue to deliver good episode after good episode.

Also I o shi'd at the end when the lady from Desmonds' episode "Flashes Before Your Eyes" was the one who found the island again.

What I picked up from the Richard / Locke encounter wasn't that Richard has some sort of ability like Dr. Manhattan, just that during a future 'time shift' Locke gets set to the past and it will be their 'first' meeting. Which if Richard gave John a compass to give to him might set up some time-loop or some crap, idk. Off-hand, does anybody remember if one of the items Richard brought to see John was a kid (Which of these items already belongs to you) was a compass?

I love how it manages to answer minor questions that it asks during the episode, but it fails to answer stuff we've wanted to know for 4 years.

    Spoiler: show
edit: the compass I think was just cause its a significant item that will make Richard know what to tell John, same way Faraday had Desmond tell him the #s in Constant.. and yeah iirc there was a compass when he saw john as a kid(maybe its the same compass and would thus clue Richard in?

Talking with a friend and maybe that episode where Richard visits kid Locke and asks "Which of these items belongs to you?" and presents the items, if one really is a compass, maybe they were setting up for a time loop. This would allow them to get kid Locke instead of old Locke since old Locke is dead. That'd be effing crazy.

Absolutely fantastic. I loved every second of it. And this is the first time in the series that I've felt that seeing less of Rose and Bernard would be best.

Ben knows Locke will be brought back to life when his body reaches the island. Just like what happened to Jacks dad.

Had fun watching, and I think it will be very interesting to see how Ben is able to convince or otherwise bring people back to the island.

I immediately recognized who Ms. Hawking was, but I thought the big reveal was pretty lackluster and that many people would be left with a "huh?" feeling. Can't just bring back a minor character from 2 years ago and expect everyone to go "Ohhhhhhh."

Jack's dad was brought to the island dead? I'm pretty sure Jack intentionally had an empty casket, i.e. he assumed his father was dead in Australia and was bringing home an empty casket for closure.

Christian's body was on the plane going back to the states to be buried. I remember Jack identifying Christian's body in the mortuary. There was also an early episode of Jack pleading with the attendant at the airport to just let him board the plane, because he lacked documentation to store a body on the plane, or something. I also remember an early episode of Jack finding the casket on the island and opening it up very hesitantly expecting his father to still be inside (it was empty).

The funeral he had after the Oceanic 6 returned WAS just for closure, there was no body present because Christian's body couldn't be found after landing on the island.

I always thought that he was bringing Christian's dead body home for burial. Maybe you're right. I'll see what I can find.

I loved Hurly's recap of the first 4 seasons to his mom. Some of my friends tell me they want to get into Lost and ask me to tell them what's going on so far...I'll just have to point them to that clip.
