Nothing will go back to normal in season 6. They won't reset what happened to John Locke and the other....that would make half of this season completely pointless.

I do think Juliet and Faraday are going to stay dead...Sayid I don't know. They might come back one way or the other, but I doubt they will be "normal".

That said, Sawyer is totally going to die now. I said the same thing for Faraday, but when a guy lose his girl, he has to die. Indirectly, this imply the ending will involve Jack and Kate...but then Jack might also dies.

That leads to the question of why he intentionally created a loophole and was ultimately killed because of it? I think jacob wants to die all along after such an eternity. Remember his dialog with Esau?

Jacob, "It only ends once, the ones happen before are just progress."

He has been wanting to die long long time ago, that's why he has constantly brought people to the island so that the existence of a loophole would become a possibility. Now even jacob's dead, he still got the last laugh because it's all part of the plan.
Just a thought, but maybe Esau is already dead. That's why, unlike Jacob, he can't touch people to change them, but why he has controls over the dead. Now that Jacob is dead, both are going to be ghost.

I don't think Jacob created a loophole to be killed, but it was probably one of the many consequences of giving people freedom. He clearly doesn't want to be killed, or he wouldn't be hiding out of sight, but that doesn't mean he doesn't accept his fate either.

When he was talking about "progress", I think he was actually refering to mankind's destiny, and not his own death. Esau said something along the line of "you're trying to prove me wrong", then it followed with the "human never changed" line and ended with "it ends once, rest is just progress".

Jacob is trying to prove Esau that human can change their destiny, or something like this. Esau on the other hand used this "freedom" and "uncertainty" to kill Jacob.

That's where I picked the show last week. I thought it was a commercial until I realize the scene was serious when people started screaming.

How many of you are actually pleased with the character that played Jacob? Did you all think he did a very good job? Was he the right man to be chosen for it? Did you find him interesting?
I expected an old man the whole time...it was kinda weird. After watching the episode twice, I think it was a good choice. He got the "you can trust me" part right, while keeping a somewhat mysterious attitude.

In overall, I'm really pleased with this new duo. I always expected to be letdown with this plot twist, but it was just as good as anything else on the show.

The best part for me in this episode is how the island went back from something we knew relatively well, to something really mysterious like it used to be. There was always weird stuff going on, but right now, the new mysteries are bigger than ever.

I know I'm annoying with this, but did anyone here play Xeno III and noticed the striking similarities between Jacob/Esau and chaos/Wilhelm? I hate drawing parallels between different story usually, but it's just too easy here.

Actually it reminds me of Persona 2, with Philemon and Nyarlethotep. Nyarlethotep takes different forms throughout the game and basically mind rapes. He posed as one of the main characters fathers. Also they both made a bet about humanity in a very similar way to Jacob and MIB were talking about who would be wrong or not. The similarities are actually ground breaking to me. I kind of like these plot lines, I want to know more about the MIB and his origins as well as Richard and Jacob's. They better all get centrics next season, I am going to try to ask that if Darlton have another fan Q&A soon.

Never played Persona 2, but I'm not really surprised they had similar talk in it. They usually stick to a simple concept like this and develop it through the whole game.

The similarities with Xeno3 doesnt stop at the fate vs freedom scenario thought. The time traveling in the past to the "incident", the magnetic abnormality, the monster (especially if it turn out Smokey is a collective consciousness of every dead people, and not just Esau), the biblical references, and the whole "old civilisation" thing. Sure, it's missing the whole space saga, which is quite a lot, but the main plot does share some similarities.

I'm not saying they copied or were inspired by it, but I find it kinda funny how similar my favorite game and my favorite TV show turned out to be.

The difference between the characters in Persona 2 is that they actually live in the collective unconciousness, but Nyarlethotep can directly interfere in the real world. You really don't know much about him and their plans until the very end of the game so it is really all a shocking moment. Just like this season finale.

I never did play Xenosaga, I tried the first but it bored me to death. I always hear good things about 3 so I may try that sometime.

I skimmed so I'm not sure if this conversation is played out but if they "reset" the time line it makes no sense. If they safely land at LAX they will have never gone back in time to detonate the nuke so that they would land safely at LAX. I sincerely hope they don't go that route.

From http://lostpedia.wikia.com/wiki/Jacob: Interesting things I saw.

"In the Bible and Tanakah, Aaron is a direct descendant from Jacob."

"According to the Book of Malachi, God "loved Jacob but hated his brother Esau" (Malachi 1:1-3)."

"Jacob impersonated Esau in order to gain a blessing that his father Isaac meant for Esau." (lol reversal?)

"Jacob had twelve sons, the youngest of whom was named Benjamin. Jacob also had a daughter named Dinah."

"The tribe of Benjamin's women and children were all killed,(just as Ben Linus's "tribe" was killed) and the remaining members of the tribe could not longer proliferate. The historical solution they came up with was to kill the men from another sub-tribe and take their women and children. Women are unable to carry to term on the Island, and the Others have been taking women and children from Oceanic Flight 815."

Oh really? All I found was this:

this alllll goes back to something I talked about pages ago that relates to the bible. Jacob had a brother. Maybe that is his brother. But there are different variations of the story. In one variation they were rivals, and they could not kill one another. They had to have somebody else kill them but not buy bribing or anything, the person that did it had to have wanted to kill him. So that is why he talked Ben into doing it and gave him reasons.

Which goes back to stuff I've been saying for weeks and months. Sorry, it had always just been something that bothered me when people walked into a conversation and repeated stuff we've been saying. And to do it on a forum where you can actually go back and read it just furthers it. Wasn't meant as an offense to you or anything. Just one of those things like coming up to somebody and saying, "Dude did you know Walt was kidnapped?" Yeah, the conversation of that happened a while ago.

A few of us have speculated / wanted Jacob become Locke or even better yet to just revive him.

    But heres another theory.

Jacob went to Illiana and told her that he needed her help. He also seemed to know what the loophole was going to be and that his death was coming. So when we see Illiana say something along the lines of "He could be a candidate" about Frank, maybe she meant that his body was a candidate for Jacob to take after his death. So that is why she brought him along and was called back to help Jacob.
But maybe they will not have to use Frank's body after all. Maybe they can just use Locke's.

Also about the bomb, the assumption that I'm sticking with is when Jacob said at the end, "They're coming" he meant the people from the past were being blown back to the present, but still on the island and not saved like they hoped. Thus, the eye opening at the end. And they all have something special about them that scares Esau, those Jacob touching them.

But I still question which side Widmore and Elle are on since they wanted Locke to be back for the 'war'. Since they knew about a war and knew Locke would play a part did they know that Locke would kill Jacob and thus are on Esau's side. Or is there still more left for the real / dead Locke. Surely there has to be more to him, because he's 'special'. And you don't ever tell Locke what he can't do. If he wants to live, them god dammit he will live!

Also, wanting to know how Richard watched everybody die. So does that actually mean they are still in the 70s?

I'm just curious about the Dharma photo from 1977 with Jack and all the others who went back. If it was sitting in Horace's/ Ben's house the entire time, how come Adult Ben or Locke never noticed it when they lived there. Locke's character would be the type to explore the house and anything about the Initiative peaked his curiosity.

Maybe they did know about them, but were just lying about it. Might have something to do with why the others wanted Michael to bring Jack, Kate, and Sawyer back to them. From what I can recall those are the only 3 815 survivors that had direct interaction with the others in the past and I know ben needed surgery but maybe that wasnt the only reason.

Pretty cool they would mention it by name. I wonder if that synopsis would be consider canon by the show runners. It also confirms that the shirt was black haha.

    saw this on LOST Spoilers

Viewers of ABC's "Lost" saw the body of a dead John Locke in the show's Season 5 finale Wednesday night. However, a very alive Terry O'Quinn, who plays Locke, was in Spartanburg on Thursday to play in the BMW Charity Pro-Am at Carolina Country Club.

Between holes, O'Quinn was happy to talk to fans about golf, the finale and the fate of his character in the show's final season, beginning in 2010.

O'Quinn called himself an OK golfer, saying he would be happy with an 85 or under.

"I played well on the front. A little bit rough on the back," he said as his group neared hole 17.

O'Quinn said he hasn't seen the finale and didn't know how the story was edited.

"Don't tell me," he joked. "I want to be surprised."

In the season cliffhanger, a bomb, which could prevent Flight 815 from ever crashing on the mysterious island, was detonated.

As for his character, O'Quinn says he's really gone. Locke's dead body was rolled out of a metal box toward the end of the two-hour episode, baffling islanders who had been following a Locke imposter. Exactly who is now occupying Locke's body wasn't revealed. O'Quinn said it would be "a good guess" to assume it's a man seen with the infamous Jacob in the beginning of the episode.

"I think, unfortunately, I think it's ended for Locke. But I'm still there, as far as I know," O'Quinn said. "I don't know how it's going to end for this other guy. I'm sad. I miss John Locke, poor guy. He was a pawn."

O'Quinn is gearing up to play a new character when the sixth season begins next year. As for the rest of the story line, he swears he has no idea.

"Your guess is honestly as good as mine is," he said. "There's going to be some confrontation that will somehow, I'm guessing, have to do with Jack or Locke or something like that. I think these guys are just setting up good and evil. It's the way Locke said in the very beginning of the show: One is light and one is dark. Two sides. I think that's what we've got."

Damn that sounds epic as hell. With Jacob dead the only person that would really bother with this is Jack. Not sure what will happen with Ben but he is still alive so that obviously means something.

As for Locke.. damn that is ice cold. His life was truly just sad and pathetic, I can't believe he really died that way, it pisses me off.

I wouldn't take this interview too seriously. Even if he knew, he would lies about it like most actors on the show.

The writters arent stupid, I'm sure they will give Locke a "good end" somehow.
