Luckily after hours of googling and trying many different things, I finally found a program that works. It was totally worth it to see Fire Emblem 6 and Mother 3 boot up on my DS Lite in English, though... I never would have dreamed I'd be able to do that.
Any chance you remember which program you used? I got my cycloDS and ezflash 3 in 1 today, been trying out different programs for a few hours and I'm still getting "no compatible cart inserted" type errors no matter what I do ;/

    Thanks in advance ;o

Which firmware do you have (for Cyclo DS) as I am reading that the EZ Flash V 3in1 will not work with Cyclo firmwares above 1.51

So you could downgrade if you are running a higher firmware, or wait for Cyclo to release a fix.

IF the same program from Yuri works for you I would be interested to hear it. Also where did you get your EZ from, and is it a 3in1+?

i got it from realhotstuff, using firmware v1.53 and no, it's not a 3in1+ just a 3in1. I actually just got it working, somehow, I think by disabling rumble in the cycloDS firmware menu? idk.

edit: nvm, it's getting a bit further, loaded the rom into the flashcart but now it boots and freezes on the GameBoy screen. /fume

edit edit: shutting down the DS and starting directly from slot2 seems to have solved it D:

The program I use is called GBA_ExpLoader, the most current version as far as I'm aware. It's a .nds file that goes in your main directory, then you make a GBA folder in your main directory and put a SAVE folder in your GBA folder. I can upload it tonight if you need a copy, unfortunately I don't have my usb connector at work so it would have to wait. I'd be happy to help though, I know what a freaking pain it is to get it working.

I finally got it working, some combination of having BOTH the 3-in-1 tools and GBA Exploader loaded as well as disabling rumble in CycloDS's settings menu seems to have fixed it.

It seemed to take a really long time to load the game onto the ezflash, is that normal and/or necessary for all games over 16MB? I guess I don't mind finishing one game before loading another but i was thinking maybe there's something I'm not doing right ;o

Any games over 16MB have to be loaded into NOR memory, which does take a while, and you can only load one at a time. On the flipside, once it's loaded, you can start the game instantly. The other way to play is via flash memory, which works for any games 16MB and under, but they take a while to load and have to be reloaded every single time.

yea that's what I figured. thanks for the help. My next project is gonna be figuring out how to get a SNES emulator on there, but part of me is afraid I'm gonna snap the hell out of this microSD card by mistake ;/

In semi-related news Soma Bringer is easily one of the top 3 DS games I've ever played and easily justifies the purchase of this flash cart.

Any Flash Card works, just do not go for an M3 Simply.. it hasn't had a firmware update in a year or more.

Get like a Cyclo as stated before. :<

I tried out SNESEmul for the DS, it works, but not very well. I dunno if there are any better ones. I'll check it out later but I had enough frustration trying to get Dragon Quest V to work (which it never did, no matter how hard I tried it would not detect the cheat file that bypasses the anti-piracy lockout).

Nice graphics, fun dungeon crawler gameplay, Mitsuda soundtrack, what's not to love? Well, maybe the story, which gets more and more generic as it progresses... but maybe you'll like that more than me, heh.

LOVVVVVE Soma Bringer. I just updated my translation today. I just wish i could remember where the hell i am supposed to be going in Act 3-09... I haven't played it for several months and have completely forgotten =(

EDIT: Aha! Figured it out. Way more text has been translated so I had a bit more help than i did last time when there was still quite a few NPCs that spoke Japanese.

I'd go for DQ5 but I literally *just* sunk 50 or so hours into DQ4 so I don't think I'd have the patience for more of the same, no matter how good it is.

Is there an english version for the new FF Crystal Chronicles yet?

Part of me wants to be a SE junkie and just buy the actual carts for DQ5, chrono trigger, and FFCC but meh.

If you're not sure how to put your own cheats in, just grab the most recent database from GBAtemp, Cyclo one is here. Just drop that into your CycloDS folder (think that's the name, should see the normal cheat database in there) and it should have the cheat option there when you go to boot up the game.

does anyone know whether or not you can load a GBA game onto a gba-sized ezflash 3-in-1 then play it on a separate gba system? I've had this game boy micro for a while that I hardly use, but I refuse to get rid of it because it's so tiny and awesome.

The only thing I could think to do would be to load GBA roms onto my DS flash cart then use GBAExploader to load games onto the ezflash, then taking that and put it in the game boy micro... but idk if that would work. Are there flash carts specifically for gba (for transfer directly from pc to gba)?

The only exception being if it is a patched game, since this will change the Game ID. In that case, i use R4CCE to edit the userevo file and tell the 'cheat' what game ID to use.

R4CCE is also what i use to enter my own codes in manually if i need to. Originally created for R4's, it works just fine with userevo files on the Cyclo.

Hmm, I'll try this and see if it works. Because yeah, my cheats were definitely updated, and in the readme for the cheat file I have it even states that one of the latest additions is the DQV cheat. For most of my ROMs, it asks me if I want to use cheats or not, but it wasn't doing that for DQV, which was odd. It must have something to do with the game ID.

Then again I haven't even played IV yet since I lost my original cart for it while on the Hero's chapter. Too frustrated by that to start over just yet.

Sounds like that is exactly what you need to do. If you run across a game that no longer asks you if you want to use codes, then run R4CCE on your current cheat file.

Find the game, and hit the "..." button next to the Game ID, as in my screenie below. Navigate to the game (on your Cyclo if you like) and it will update the Game ID itself. Save the evoCheats file, replace the one on your Cyclo and you are all set.

Takes me about 2 mins tops to update my patched games every time i import a new full Cheat DB file.

Where was your copy of DQ5 freezing up, or was it just not launching? I downloaded the european rom from some random site I googled and got the latest copy of the user evo file from GBATemp, it seems to work so far but I only played for about 5 seconds. Does the copy protection actually manifest further in?

As far as I know, the "Death Ship" happens quite early in the game. I had the code fix enabled so no exact idea. I do know you are only on that ship for maybe 2-5 mins (depending on how fast/much you read) and that is it. After that you are good i believe.
