Waiting on Amazon.com to ship my game but are you guys saying you can see your opponent pick their characters? That's ridiculously gay.

Haha, I destroyed a SRK spamming Ken with Cammy last night. Was much fun.
For those who know them: 300, Desmond, and Tazz just left my apartment. They stayed over the last 2 days, and that is my Final Round (Atlanta - March) team for competition. I'm sure most of you at least know Des. Was 2 days filled of MVC2, 3rd Strike, and the crap they call SF4.
You can just call the game SF EX 2.5; SF EX 3, which is actually awesome, is the same game with much more depth and skill level. SF4 has too many safe moves that are unpunishable when they should be.
Videos to be uploaded as soon as they get back to Philly off the airplane.
Tier list in our opinion:
S Sagat
A Zangief
A Sakura
A- Ryu
A- Chun-Li (LL are better than they ever have been....)
B- FeiLong
This discounts the banned tourney characters (Seth/Gouken)
Edit - Anyone from here going to this year's Final Round?
I hate that shit, and the fact that everyone and their mother use Ryu/Ken. Ever since Special Championship Edition, I forced myself to learn Zangeif and Bison (Balrog) for years. Balrog's good, but too cheap at times since you can spam his specials once you get into button buffering so I stuck with Zangeif. Only problem is I need to find a classic arcade joystick to "cheat" into his Spinning Piledriver. I like the XBox, but the controller is a bitch for fighting games.
I'm the same way too. I really like playing as Ken, but I can't bring myself to spam him online. Right now I'm only using Abel and I'm having a blast. Dictator seems like a cool character to play with, and I've gotten my ass handed to me by a couple online so I might try him out sometime soon.
I was lucky enough to get a 360 standard fightstick at the games launch. It might not be the best thing around but it's getting the job done. Do you have the game for 360 Sol? if so my gamertag's Jamrawk. Anyone else feel free to add me too.
I know I'm probably missing something here but I'm trying to pick up Guile and I'm having a problem. How to you charge up for sonic boom or flash kick without completely telegraphing it?
I always use cammy, last night I must have fought 40 matches against nothing but ryu/ken's, shit gets old, had this one dude tho that was really good rape my face.
I use Ryu (or anyone based on him) as my go-to guy whenever a new fighting game comes out to get the hang of the physics and combo system. Once the training wheels come off, I eventually float to the powerhouse characters that suit my playing style and try to work in some corner traps. I haven't used Balrog as much as I should but he seems kind of toned down since Alpha but I'll work on him after I get bored with Zangeif.
Though cheap, Bison can be a beast as long as you stray away from his classic patterns and remember to exploit his zone game between rounds. His corner tricks and cross ups are a great way to lose friends and should be used as needed, just remember not to over expose youself with too many cross ups because most turtles can and will make you pay for it.
Still playing arcade because I don't own a console yet. I'll probably get a 360 once my tax return comes back. I hope there's a deal on SF4 with an arcade stick by then >.>
They've since took out Guile's walking flash kick glitch in SFII (which made him insanely broken) but you can still buffer a charge with jump-ins, combos, during the motions of another special, or during a super combo. It takes some practice since he's limited in specials but you can basically buffer into a DB motion during a chain combo and toss out a sonic boom, flash kick, or his super with some timing.
I've been playing a lot of this game. I'm not the greatest, but I'm always available for play. Just add me or w/e.
Tiers mean nothing except the amount of skill it takes to use them.
Man, I really hope people eventually get off of Ryu/Ken's nuts by the time I get my Xbox. That shit sounds boring if all I'll be doing is fighting hado-spamming shotos online. I liked how they both got fucked over in SFIII and was hoping they would stay watered down in 4, but oh well...
Is rufus supposed to be a stereotypical american lol? I feel like I'm the only one playing him online though.
How can you say Ryu and Ken weren't toned down in SF3? I liked the fact that people had to actually learn the game to use them effectively rather than spamming fireballs. That's what made SF3 somewhat worthwhile to me, because they were among the best characters but not the end all be all like they were in the previous games.
Toned down from what? Alpha 3? Sure, but then again that was a wholly different game. Super Turbo? Hell no. The parry/punish game made their fireballs even better.
Once you get the mechanics of the game down, people who spam Ryu and Ken are a piece of cake. They've leapt for the easiest combo in the game, and anything remotely technical is like a mystery for them. For example, they barely ever use Supers or Ultras, and they don't use Saving Attacks either. If they do, it's real easy to read. They also don't realize stuff like Blanka's EX Rolling Attack can go through their Fireball spam and punish them.
