If I import, and the playerbase is in Japan.... the online is pointless...lol

Uh for the game $55 and for the HRAP they are going for 205-210 on Ebay, but I'd take like $150.\
Might keep the stick for friends to use on GGPO, but doubt it.
I am fed up with this game rewarding people getting their ass kicked with Ultra meter. It goes against the god damned basics. It is like Capcom said, "lets take a look at all game aspects that made our past fighters successful and do the opposite." FUCK.
I can't imagine anyone but a 4 year old designing Seth. "How about a final boss that can do sonicbooms and shoryukens AND stretchy arms! Hmmm and for his special attack, he'll suck you up into his tummy and shoot you out! And... He's naked! hehehe"
I've been trying to understand Street Fighter IV's storyline. It did more damage to any kind of connection between II and III than helped. After thinking for awhile, I have come to an conclusion that explains everything. There may be some holes in this, but I think you'll agree it makes more sense than what we were given. Spoilers, but what do you care?
Everyone is actually Seth. Well almost everyone.
By Seth I mean whatever SIN robot Seth is. I'll just call them Seths. You see Abel is obviously a Seth with false memories and a dysfunctional one at that. These Seths are programmed with DATA. DATA of fighters abilities(Sonicbooms, shoryukens, stretchy arms, etc). Perhaps as a side effect they gain the memories of those they copy, believing them to be that person. The time when the DATA was collected may cause problems.
Somewhere in this flawless plan the Bison-Seth thought he was Bison between Alpha and SFII when he was always switching bodies. The scientist kind of just went with it, they really needed to get paid. Unfortunately for Bison-Seth, one of the Seths... Seth-Seth was somehow enlightened(maybe the sonicbooms, shoryukens, and stretchy arms was too much DATA.)
The struggle between the two caused the release of all the other Seths. After they escaped, they forgot they were just robots under some skin and went about living the lives of their street fighting persona. The Guile-Seth happened to collect a file on his way out. Once he became Guile, he thought this was his new case. This would lead to SIN's destruction.
Speaking of Guile, the real one is actually at home enjoying family life and recalls Charlie dying. This Guile persona was collected moments before that event and still thinks Charlie is alive, just hiding from him for no apparent reason(also doesn't give a shit about his kid.) Now it is possible that Guile met the real Chun-Li, but it could just be Chun-Li-Seth.
The data of characters like Gouken, Rose, Vega(both dictator and claw), and Gen were recorded before their deaths.
Sakura was recorded back when she was still in High School. She still thinks the last time she has meet Ryu was like 3 months ago and is completely unaware it has been years since that encounter. The Dan she meets in the beginning MIGHT be the real Dan. Dan is pathetic and a loser which Sakura eventually realized and never talked to him again. He is probably homeless and living in some old abandon dojo drinking his days away. Imagine his surprise one day when Sakura of yesterday returns and treats him like nothing has changed! He probably just plays along because it gives his life meaning.
Most jarring is that the Ryu Sakura-Seth meets in her ending/final battle might be the real Ryu just walking around and exploring. So one day Ryu is just chilling and Sakura who is suppose to be like 21+ or something by now comes by and says hello in her school uniform, he becomes reasonably worried. When he says "Its been a long time" he is putting the emphasis on long time and then kicks her ass.
Crimson Viper is the only actual human character through the whole thing. She is charged with killing them all before they end up embarrassing themselves or turn sentient and take over the world(ie Seth).
Balrog(boxer) might have been a real dude too(I am kind of biased, I play Balrog). In a combination of the grief of losing all his money and taking too many blows to the head, poor ol' Buffalo lost his mind. So now he explores laboratories located in the middle of the ocean for treasure. When he finds a small boy, his Mike Tyson tendencies kick in and he either rapes or eat the child off-screen.
So yeah, in the end nothing important happens in Street Fighter IV. For everyone involved it is ultimately pointless, except for Balrog who gained the most important thing of all: a child's love.
The dvd that came with the collector's version laid out some kinda story for the game. Granted I have no idea when the game is supposed to take place though.
Seth is the CEO of S.I.N. which is an arms dealer that is working on a weapon called B.L.E.C.E.(Boiling Liquid Expanding Cell Explosion iirc). A weapon that runs off a living being's Ki(Apparently every champion fighter has mastered it I guess). So they're abducting these fighters to use as guinea pigs to power this thing and Ryu is their ultimate goal because of his dark hado. Ryu at this point is wandering around the world half dead while having "get out of my bwain!!" conversations with a subliminal Akuma while everyone else is trying to track him. Viper tracks Ryu down through Ken and everyone else when they find out that he is conveniently close to where Ken lives.
Whole thing gets kinda nutty after that point. C.Viper is a double agent planted into S.I.N. by the F.B.I. to find out all about B.L.E.C.E., she kick's Cammy's ass hardcore at one point in the movie to piss off Ryu. He then turns into Dark Ryu, shows off his power, and Seth joygasms at it. After that there’s the huge showdown on Seth's yacht when Viper kidnaps Ken's preggers wife. In the end Ryu overcomes the Dark Hado, Ultras Seth who turns out to be a whiny little kid who has never been hurt and you find out Shadaloo is masterminding S.I.N. from the start.
tl;dr version
Ryu's dark power is the key to an ultra weapon Seth is working on, Seth needs to be stopped by everyone else. Dictator isn't dead(contrary to what everyone thinks) and is actually masterminding the whole thing. And no, they never explain why Seth can use every ability in the game.
If this explanation seems incoherent and/or confusing I mostly blame it on my lack of coffee this morning.
good gawd, sounds crazier then Alpha the movie.
Hang on to your stick...
Clips: Please Be Seated For This King Of Fighters XII Trailer
Hopefully SNK Playmore can pull this one off.
Thanks, now I need a new keyboard...
And where the hell is Clark?!
I thought the same thing about King. (I know, I know. She's not the greatest, but I have lots of fun using her)
Edit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clark_Still has a link to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_King_of_Fighters_XII at the bottom so looks like he's still a go.
*sigh* scared me for a minute...
Back on topic though: I finally got the confidence to start using Balrog again and it's almost like Super Street Fighter II Turbo all over again! He seems a little slower, but hasn't lost his range. I spent most of last night pwning hadoken spammers with turn punches and corner traps. Longest streak was 9 wins until I got punished by Chun-Li
Guys, are there any problems with the availability of the Madcatz Sticks for SFIV in the US? In the UK they are basically impossible to find, and the only way to get one is to buy one on ebay at vastly inflated prices. Also you can't buy the HRAP here at all, not even on ebay lol. Right now I'm just persevering with the 360 pad.
I just tossed my HRAP on Ebay last night. You can buy it there if you want to. There is only 2 on Ebay including mine I believe, unless I searched/typed something incorrectly.
The game wasn't a waste of money for me considering I can get full price back for it on Ebay. The stick is actually a gain because I paid 89.99 for it and they are selling for 200+. I wish I had 10 of them now. I have custom sticks anyway.
Didn't play 98 all that much. I made a mistake and played most of my DC games with the controller -- never got a stick. Now I'm boned because they aren't cheap or easy to find (I hate ebay). So I spent most of my time using her in CvS2 and that had much better fighters than her.
I've had the opportunity to buy the SE sticks and the Gamepads but passed them up. I've heard nothing but bad things about the SE sticks so far. The TE sticks are not faring that much better, but mostly because they're failing at the PCB level. The parts themselves are fine.
Desmond isn't one of the best SF players in the world? You must not know much dude.
Also, I am dead right with Balrog being low. Keep at me, I could care less.
Edit - Also, there are a bunch of returned MadCatz sticks down the street I can buy and mail out to anyone that wants to buy it and is having trouble finding one.
