Yes u can combo j.hk into Ultra. The two ways to do are to connect far away so that only the tip of your boot catches the other guy in the face, -or- you have to Jump in EXTREMLY deep. I recommend the 1st option, followed by a poke string in case they block the j.hk, or you can try to Ultra anyway and hope to catch them blocking high.

Thread fixed. Refrain from using kanji please (yeah, I know, vB tends to be a pain in the ass about auto formatting hyperlinks).

good luck, the initial shipment is sold out and there's nothing outside of paying a 85% premium over MSRP on auctions or used that's going to get you one.

You MUST buy Sanwa buttons to replace the ones it comes with. They are only like $2 a piece. The difference is night and day. Also, an octogon gate is only like $5 and is also night and day difference.

Going to be a fun time getting those too. Looks like Lizard Lick is backlogged until the beginning of April.

HRAPs are fine out of the box. Sanwa buttons won't make or break you, especially if it's your first stick... They're just more sensitive/require less travel time to trigger. And lol at octagon gate.

lolP360 (Ironically enough I AM rocking a sanwa flash harness on my HRAP2). It's all personal preference though, which I'm sure you're also speaking from. I personally started on an octagon gate 6yrs ago (those SNK PS2 Sticks) then moved on to HRAP1/2 which are square gate.
But seriously. HRAP out of box is fine until you decide to move on to sanwa buttons.

lol I raged myself one night and said F it, getting a stick. I just picked up an SE stick yesterday, Sanwa parts on the way. Found a GameCrazy store that was selling them and grabbed one up yesterday. Beats paying shipping from Madcatz.

    lol @ P360 / Square gate
I've spent over 200 Euro to build my hand-made custom stick from scratches (Sanwa buttons, Seimitsu sticks, Toodles' PCB, etc.) and honestly...I can't seem to get accustomed to the feeling while playing SFIV...I simply perform a lot better with the regular PS3 joypad (as odd as it may sound).

    http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...sensi/QSX2.jpg
my stick, it's so pimp it got a custom-shaped pillow below the chassis (thanks to my fiancè's sewing skills lol)!

I hardly doubt anyone who hasn't played beat'em up's competitively for at least a few years could tell the difference either way, your incessant "lolthis" and "lolthat" regarding controllers and peripherals are really out of place on this board.

Also, in case you haven't noticed the technology behind these components (talking about both sticks and buttons) flat out sucks (who the heck uses mechanical switches in professional applications anymore...), they're cheaply designed and basically made to last as long as possible and that's it. I guess containing the costs was one of the companies' purposes as well.

what left me wondering though is...why do Seimitsu and Sanwa (which are considered the best in this particular field, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) keep using mechanical switches, wouldn't something based on photodiodes or magnetism be several times as effective and accurate and more importantly...a fuckton faster?

    I would've thought that people who're fine with tossing 300 US $'s on a stick would've also looked into this kinda stuff to get some sort of advantage over their opponents but I haven't been able to find anything on this subject on SRK;

I started wondering because I've been trying to mod one of my LS-32's for the Sensible Soccer World Cup (which will take place in August in Germany) and noticed that the "leaf" switches Seimitsu has implemented are quite the poor choice performances-wise, even though I was told that Seimitsu's are the best for games whose gameplay requires tiny accurate and lightspeed-quick movements such as classic shmups, danmaku and Sensible Soccer.

People playing with keyboards or keypads (pretty popular stuff among sensible soccer players) have like...2~ ms input delay at worst (and more importantly, basically no throw or engage distances to cover whatsoever) while I'm looking forward to a 4~5 ms delay, hence my interest in photodiodes and the likes, hopefully I'll come up with something better than the stock stuff in time for the championships (I've already heavily modded the aforementioned LS-32, it works fine however it doesn't quite matches my requirements yet).

    http://i293.photobucket.com/albums/m...oluzione_1.png
the one on the left is the modded stick while the right one is a "stock" LS-32, I had to borrow some components from an old Thrustmaster USB cloche to prevent the shaft from spinning.

So yeah, all in all this elitism over Sanwa/Seimitsu parts is, in my opinion, totally unjustified for several reasons; moreover the overall quality of such products has clearly been overhyped and blown way out of proportions.

    In before "lolsoccer".

    Edit nevermind.

For one, your stick looks way too close to your buttons.

Seimetsu buttons are the fastest / least drill-down involved buttons on the market. Many people prefer Sanwa because Seimetsu buttons are accidently clicked in games like MvC2 when you need to "slide" on buttons to ROM (ie- Magneto).

You either installed them incorrectly or they are damaged if you are finding their performance low.

must be the perspective then, it's actually a "Vewlix" layout with 2 buttons added to the first row (L1/R1, actually I just needed 5 buttons to imitate the "Sensible stars" colour scheme).

dunno how to address the second paragraph tho...what does it have to do with anything?

Have you even bothered with reading my previous post? it's a design issue, not a matter of bad manufacturing/incautious handling. Enjoy inputting commands slower than anyone who's electronics-savvy and smart enough to implement something better than your "stock" stuff (probably on their own and without telling anyone either).

After making a wuss over comparatively trivial matters such as HDTV's inherent "lag" and the hypothetical gap between Madcatz/Hori and Sanwa/Seimitsu parts overlooking stuff like this makes no sense to me.

All pros used to use electronic/laser type sticks, such as a P360 for Marvel. Over the years, pros and upcomers all switched to il-comps and got rid of laser sticks. They aren't as good as perceived, but go ahead and try it out.

I've owned MAS sticks with P360 and non-laser sticks; non-laser sticks are always more reliable in my experience.

I can't speak for HAPP/whatever the current popular brand for american(bat type) sticks. But my sanwa flash is fucking awesome.
From what I know sanwa got out of that business because arcades favored microswitches due to lower(if any) maintenance required on them and lower cost of course. Flash harnesses weren't cheap, even during their prime production days.
